We just got back from an 8 day vacation in Pigeon Forge. We tried some new places and visited some old favorites.
Apple Barn: We have gone here several times. It has never been as good as the first visit. I am sorry to say that we wont be back. The food just has gone down hill.
McAlisters Deli (next to Texas Roadhouse in P.F.): Sandwiches. After a week of big meals, sandwiches are a blessing. We ate here 4X! Nothing spectacular but it is a simple meal. Aaaaand, they have free wifi!
Alamo Steakhouse: if you have the money, please go here. The best meal that we have ever had in town. 2 adults and 2 kids cost around $60. The steaks and chicken are awesome and they have 1 pound baked potatoes!!! Yummy salads too. My sister got a HUGE hamburger. It looked great.
The Smoked Pig: about 5 miles down Wear Valley Rd. at a small farmers market. Smoked ribs and brisket. Also, fried pies and homemade peach ice cream. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy. Each plate comes with 2 side dishes. I had home made potato salad and it was just right. I wish that we had eaten there earlier in the trip (so I could eat there again!).
The Old Mill restraunt: First time trying it. $60 for our family of four. I wasn't impressed. My pot roast was dry and tough. The bread was kind of stale. One good thing was free dessert! woo. Still, I doubt I would go back. Instead, I would go back to The Alamo.
Smokey Mountain Brewery: (red light 3 in P.F. but I believe there is one in Gatlinburg). I liked this place. We got a large pizza which I found tasty and reminded me of our local wood fired pizza. It was a little saucy for my husbands taste. If that's not your preference, get extra cheese. They have many home brewed beers. We also got cheesy garlic bread. Just as with the sandwich place, we were looking for something other than meat and potatoes at the end of the week and this place hit the spot.
Our friends tried the little bakery/cake shop a mile down Wear Valley Rd. and gave the cinnamon rolls a thumbs up.
I am glad for the pancake house posts. We would like to try a new one next trip. I will have to write down recomendations.
