Best Friends To Build Luxury Pet Resort At Walt Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney Company is building a new resort at Walt Disney World for pets. Best Friends Pet Care Inc. has signed an agreement to build a luxury pet resort at the Walt Disney World Resort. The facility will offer a full range of pet hospitality including dog and cat boarding, day care, grooming and day camp. Pets will enjoy amenities such as televisions, raised beddings and activities such as nature walks and to bedtime stories. The facility is expected to open in mid-2009 on Bonnett Creek Parkway. Additionally, Best Friends Pet Care Inc. will be taking over the operations of the other five pet boarding facilities at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom and Fort Wilderness Resort in January.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to come to Walt Disney World Resort to create the premier vacation destination for pets,” said Dennis Dolan, president and CEO of Best Friends Pet Care. “This project is still in the design phase, but our goal is to create a true resort destination for pets. This facility will be designed to fit into the Walt Disney World Resort vacation experience and will be unlike anything else in the industry.”

I used to work at a Best Friends kennel when I was in college. I would by no means call it luxurious, and in fact, would never send my own dogs there. Hopefully the one built in WDW will have higher standards.

Yes indeed you are correct, but it’s not about the pets. It’s about the pet owners. Pet owners think of their pets as members of the family and they detest putting their family member into a common kennel.

They don’t want their pets put in a cage and left to complete neglect. They want their pets to be showered with attention and treated with kid gloves. Just like Disney, Best Friends knows that the show is important. Best Friends will put on a very good show at WDW.

As long as the pet owners are happy, that’s all that counts. The pets have no money.
