Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has used the Best Friends Pet Care before? My wife and I want to make a day trip and called schedule an appointment for our dog. All that they had was the "indoor/outdoor suites." I have been hard pressed to find any pictures which makes me a little nervous. Also, they only offer one potty walk for the day which I also don't love.

Has anyone ever used this feature before? If anyone has pictures of that style of room it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We boarded our dog there last October since for us it is a local boarding place. We liked it and our dog seemed to do fine. Since she was a small dog and it was only for 1 night we booked her in the indoor/outdoor suite. They look similar to a pound style setup but they have a little door that they can use to go outside on their own little patio whenever they want. If you want your dog to have more than one potty walk they have an option that you can pay for an additional one. We had ours do a walk and explore since they have a little dog park attached to it. The staff there seemed very nice and was able to answer all our questions. They also let us take a tour of the facilities before we booked her stay. The entire place was very clean and none of the dogs we saw seemed to be in any danger. They also sent us a picture of our dog while she was there and I was able to call and check on her throughout the day if I chose to.

We use them very regularly for our Akita (who weighs about 115 lbs now). He absolutely LOVES it there and we love being able to stop by whenever we want to take him out to play. The one potty walk isn't my favorite thing ever, but we always stop by at least once, sometimes twice, to play outside with him for about an hour.

I wrote a review about them on my blog that's very photo-heavy. :) http://jackiesmagicalmoments.com/best-friends-pet-care-walt-disney-world-thoughts/

Jackie,

Did Akita stay in the Indoor/outdoor suit? If he did how did he fit inside (did he have room to move around)? We have a bigger dog as well and want to make sure hes not cramped up all day.

Thanks!

There is a thread here on the boards about it if you search. From what I understand there aren't a lot of pictures because it's considered "back stage" and Disney doesn't allow pictures of that. There are a couple of pictures of some of the rooms on the thread.

He did stay in one of the indoor/outdoor suites. They have big ones and he did just great - plenty of room for him to move around! I felt like he could really spread out too, he likes to lay flat out on his side and he could do that comfortably.

My dad and stepmother have a dog - Kaycee - that my dad pampered before he (my dad, not Kaycee) passed away recently. My dad would not leave Kaycee with anyone that was not family. Until we were going to Disney World and wanted to see them for a day or two. My dad researched, called and talked to Best Friends and even then, according to my stepmother, wasn't sure he was going to leave Kaycee there (they live two hours from Disney World). Kaycee stayed, loved it, my dad was happy and if a "kennel" made my dad happy (he was not a very happy man except with his family and Kaycee was part of that), then that slaps a blue ribbon on the wall for me.

Just to give a follow up on this...

We took our Dug to Best Friends Pet Care for the Day. The staff was great and very friendly! They noted that we requested to be on the indoor waiting list and we actually we able to move him into an indoor suite. Since they didn't realize how big he was they gave us 2 extra potty walks for free since he had to be in a smaller room.
We decided to come back midday to check on him. We were able to take him out back to play in the dog park area and walk him around. He was very excited to play around in the park. All together he was there for about 10 hours since our day was shortened by rain.
Dug unfortunately came back with Kennel Cough, which was unfortunate. I make the note on the Kennel Cough just as something to be aware of.
The moral of my story is that if you are in a bind and need to being your animal somewhere, this is definitely a high quality place where you can feel safe leaving your animal.

So sorry to hear about the kennel cough. :( Our dog gets a vaccine; can't remember the name of it, about every 6 months to prevent that and it's worked so far! He's a year and a half old now!

I'm glad to hear that you had a great experience other than that though!!

My mom and dad always leave their pup at Best Friends and it's worked out well. She only got one walk, but some days we also went and visited and walked her since they have a play area for the pups and an area to walk them. My parents' dog is pretty clingy and she did well there. She's a smaller dog, but the indoor outdoor was great for her.
