Best food dehydrator for human & pet

I never used a dehydrator before but I'm thinking of getting one that can do jerky for the bristle bone I just got my dog- I won't use imported treats anymore and sweet potato treats too. Also, my son loves jerky so when I think of the price on the junk he buys I think I can make a healthier version for less $ - plus fruit leather too

I've discovered so many fab items from people on here (my travel crock pot, my shark vacuum & countless tips & recipes) that I thought here would be the best place to get recommendations on techniques, models & recipes

I haven't even seen one in years, so I can't recommend a specific one.

What I can tell you is that once you use it for beef jerky, everything else will taste like beef jerky.

Very helpful, One of my neighbors is telling me to get a big expensive one from cabelas and that will be ruined for what I'm doing with it. I just get too cheap ones one for meats and one for fruit and veggies. Tganks!

Nesco sells several versions on Amazon and you can purchase extra trays for pretty cheap so you could get extra trays to avoid contamination.

I just use the cheap one they sell at walmart...sorry can't remember the brand. It works fine for the things I do. I have done regular jerky, turkey jerky, jerky made with ground meat(you need a jerky shooter for that) it comes out not quite so tuff and alot cheaper. I've done onion, cilantro, zucchini, squash. I haven't done fruit leather yet. I need to get the solid tray thingy. I love mine. Sometimes I wonder what I could do with a really nice one though

I love my Nesco. I have a bunch of extra trays to make it more efficient. I would guess it is at least 10 years old, and gets used every fall and summer extensively
