Looking for a great serving team to request for a cruise later this month? Wasn't thrilled with my team on the Magic last year..... We will have 4 adults and two children celebrating two big anniversaries :). Thank you!

It is never a good idea to request a team as they change rather frequently. Better to request just one as if they are no longer a team the person doing dining assignments will not know which you prefer and odds are you may get neither.

That said, Maureen Kaela is my favorite server of all my cruises - she was my assistant server on the Fantasy.

Witt is the best head server we have had out of 3 different cruise lines. We have been on 6 DCL alone. We had Stefan as our server. They were amazing!!

Ashang (Ningreishang Kangoo). Hardest-working man in show business.

To @Dug720 's point - Ashang has never had the same assistant server in the four times we have had him as our lead server. So, yeah, don't ask for a team.

When we sailed in Feb., Ashang was working with Joel, who did a great job as well.

We had Ashang (hola Minnie!!!) and Joel in January on the Fantasy - loved them!!!!! Joel was very quiet and reserved (though anyone next to Ashang would be lol) but he was a total sweetheart. Ashang is quite a character, would love to get him again!

We had gede and we loved him! He was interactive even with our table of just adults.

How do you email in your request?

You can email your request to: dcl.reservations@disneycruise.com

Give them your res number(s), party last name(s), and your server's full name, if possible.

DCL will reply to confirm that the request is noted on the reservation, but they will also add that they can't guarantee anything because your server might be in-between contracts when you sail (i.e., on vacation), or they might be working on a different ship, or no longer working for DCL, etc.

One caveat - the only time we requested Ashang but did not get him was when I also included a request for a specific dining rotation. We got the rotation, but did not get Ashang. My guess is that the two were not compatible, and the rotation trumped the server.

On our last cruise, I asked for Ashang and the specific rotation again, but I made it crystal clear in the email that Ashang trumped the rotation. I know I was playing with fire by making the simultaneous requests again, but this time we didn't get the rotation, but did get Ashang. I am not sure if we just got lucky, or if the careful wording of my e-mail made the difference.

Hi Squirk,
Did you get to ask Ashang when he will be on the Fantasy for the near future? We plan on requesting him again maybe in the spring or fall of 2018.

Just curious if you were making a request for the earlier dinner from the later dinner?

I don't remember asking when his next break is. If I did, I forgot the answer. Sorry.

He seems to be committed to being a server on the Fantasy long-term. He does not appear to have any interest in being a head waiter or in moving to one of the new ships. I got the impression that he knows he's got a good thing going on the Fantasy, and isn't inclined to leave.

Earlier (first) seating.

We just got off the shortened 9/2 Fantasy and we had Ashang as well. We loved him! and his assistant Casmine. It was our first Disney cruise and had hoped we would get that great service everyone talks about and it couldn't have been better. He was great with our shy kids. I can't wait to get back on the Fantasy hoping he will still be around. Bummed they don't keep the same teams though. We loved Casmine just as much!

Thanks Squirk. I had asked him about going to Palo or becoming a head waiter but he said he is happy where he is. He enjoys entertaining families and Palo would not suit him.

Wow that's great! We had Ashang and Maureen together and they were so entertaining! They both took turns trying to stump my wife and my parents. But my dad who also is a part time waiter turned the tables on them and gave them some tricky crayon/pencil puzzles that they couldn't solve. So much fun! LOL!

I LOVE Maureen!! I was almost going to change back to the Fantasy and just deal with Star Wars stuff just in hopes (with request) of having her again!

He told us that he has had multiple opportunities to move up to a head server, but it was a lot more responsibility and a lot more dealing with guest complaints for not a lot more money.
