Which eyelet setter would be the best for someone who has never played with eyelets before? I have narrowed it down to three: The Silent Setter, the Making Memories Instant Setter or the Making Memories Tool Kit.

If your favorite is not listed, please tell! :)

If you decide to choose the Making Memories Tool Kit can I make a suggestion? This is the route I decided to go. Recently I found I had trouble setting some "flat-top eyelets" because the shaft was even smaller than 1/8". If I had it to do over, I would just have gotten the hammer, the setting pad (not included in the kit anyway), hole punch and the universal setter tool.

I've never tried the MM Instant Setter, but have to say that I tried the Silent Setter at ACMoore one day & really didn't like it. I know many people here love it. It may have been that I was doing it at a weird angle because it was in the store, but I found it difficult to get enough pressure on the setter when twisting it.

I don't have little ones taking naps when I'm hammering so the noise doesn't bother me. Besides, it always makes me think of DisneyFreakJackie singing "She bangs" like William Hung! :rotfl:

i have the silent setter and then new instant setter...along with the tool kit, db ilet setter, original ones before any of the companies came out with eyelets...when you could only get them from impressrubberstamps.com...we are talking back in 2001!!!

well, everybody said the silent setter was good..but i couldn't set anything with it except for the ones it came with and doodlebug ones...it was the most frustrating thing...i wanted to pound the eyelets with the stupid tool itself!!!

then i got the mm instant setter...got it for 50% off...i figured, i can pay that!!! well, i do like this one...it actually sets the mm eyelets. it isn't quiet, but yet it isn't loud either. it cuts the hole in one click, but to set the eyelets, it takes 2-3 pushes on it. i like mine flat, so i pushed a few times. i haven't tried the cone tip yet, but that is the next on my list.

i like this because it is almost all in one (just the setter itself and the tips)...you don't need a tool, tips, and hammer.

hth, karen

I love my silent setter. I found if I stand to set the eyelets it is easier for some. Much quicker than the hammer.

I got the silent setter today and love it! I tried it with MM eyelets and the ones it came with and didn't have any problems. I was standing when I tried it, but I think I'm going to enoy this much more than the hammer!
