Best excursions in Nassau?

We will be doing a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas in July. This is the first cruise our family has ever been on. I am looking for suggestions for excursions when we are on Nassau. My husband and I will be traveling with out 10 and 8 year old daughters as well as his parents and my mom.

Also, is there anyone who preferred to stay on the boat instead of visiting the island? Is there still plenty to do on the boat if we decide to do that?

Stay away from the Forts and Junkanoo. The info and pics you find online are all the info you will get.

My husband and I loved the Junkanoo museum as well as Fort Charlotte and the Queens staircase. The tour also included a mini bus tour of several different area of the city. It was a great overview of some of the history and culture of the area and our tour leader had a great personality ! If anyone is into Colonial Williamsburg, Fort Charlotte is a must as it was built by Lord Dunmore after he left Virginia!
