Can I get some opinions on the best excursions available for the 4 night cruise to Bahamas and which ones are not worth booking.

The best excursion is all in your opinion!

Our first excursion on the 4 night was the Carribean Queen snorkle. We love to snorkle and had a great time! The next time we did the scuba diving. But you have to be certified to do that. We loved the scuba and the snorkling!

One of my close friends did the Atlantis Beach Day and said that it was not worth the $60 they paid. The surf was too rough that day and they had to walk a long way to get to the beach that was reserved for them. Atlantis was cool, but not worth the price they paid. They wouldn't do that one again.

I have heard good things about the sting ray city. But I've never been there.

Hope this helps!

We've done the Blue Lagoon and the Catamaran sail and snorkel.. We had a great time at each.

Blue lagoon is great if you have little ones and want a beach. It is a 45 min trip by boat. There is a swallow inlet to play in. They have rental equipment-snorkel, kayaks, water bikes etc. There is a place to snorkel, you walk in (wear water shoes for this if you don't like to walk over slimey stuff!) They provide a picnic lunch (hot dogs, hambs.) You go back on a 2:00 or 4:00 ferry.

The catamaran trip was awesome. We sailed out and had about 45 min to snorkel and then back in. This one is quite a bit shorter, but you are back for a late lunch on board.

I vote to skip 'em! We had a wonderful time on Cable Beach at the Wyndham Crystal Palace. You can use their beach and ammenities free. It's a beautiful hotel with a big beach, pool, waterslide, casino, restaurants and watersports. My kids had a ball there. We stayed a few hours, soaked up the sun, and got back on board. It was a great day and I can't wait to do it again.

Hey AUFootball, we haven't been yet! (Going in March!) Just wanted to drop in and say War Eagle!!!

I think we're going to book the Dolphin Swim ourselves (instead of the Dolphin Encounter) on Nassau. On CC, I think we're going to do the Catamaran Sail Snorkel. My DS (age 9 then) loves to snorkel.

Thanks for the thread. It's great.

One more month til football season.

So you just get a bus or taxi to the Wyndham and walk on thru and you can actually use their amenities for FREE? Wow that's great. I wonder if you just got lucky or if other people have done that too? I wanted to do something beachy and relaxing where we could bring our own snorkel equipment and kind of walk out to do a bit of ametaur (sp) snorkeling!!

I'm interested in Cable Beach at the Wyndham Crystal Palace also.

For those of you who have done this, a couple of quesitons.

1. Can you walk to this beach, walk past the straw market and keep going? I remember seeing a trip report that said you could walk. If not, how long of a taxi ride?

2. Can you gamble at the Wyndam, if you go inside?

3. Is it free?

Thank you.

:D

We just got back from the Wonder and did this excursion. There is some walking and then a ferry to Atlantis which was a bit of a pain, but overall we enjoyed it. The water was warm and great for swimming (no rough surf when we went) and the kids enjoyed the aquariums. The burgers and hotdogs we got were very good. Overall, we are glad we did it. Castaway Cay was better (and free!), but Atlantis beach day was good too.

Just a bump cause we all want to know all the details of the Crystal palace. How do get there? How much is the cab? Can you rent an umbrella? Do you have to sneak on? lol Can you use the casino and everything for free????

thanks,

I have seen on other boards and threads here that you can walk in, should bring your own towels, and spend some money at their property. If you go to Wydham's website you can find out what all is offered. We looked into getting a room there and found an advance rate of $92.00. Not bad for a family of four if you don't want to chance the "free" pass. Pus you have room to go take a nap, shower, or whatever  As a former hotel manager, if you are spending money on food, drinks and gambling and do not bother the resort guests than I can't imagine it would be a problem to use the facilities.

Last October, after lunch, we took at cab over to the Wyndam -$5 per head. It is NOT a walkable distance. Myself, DH, DD10, DS5 swam in the beach inlet and played in the sand for about 2 hours. We forgot to bring towels, but did pack bottled water and sand toys.

When the cab pulls up, you just walk through the casino and out the door to reach the beach. When we were ready to leave, there were plenty of cabs at the hotel to take us back to the port.

We plan on doing this again for our 9/12/04 Wonder cruise.

For little kids this is a great excursion, you can come and go on your own time.

Well, we've never sailed Disney, YET. But we have been to nassau three times. If you are going without kids I'd recommend renting some of those little motorcycles. My dh and I did this and it was the best thing we have every done there! We got to see parts of the island that not many other people have seen. It was really cool.
