My DH is wanting to eat a mexican, japanese, and a chinese restaurant during our stay. What do you recommend we choose for these three categories in epcot?
Mexican: La Hacienda de San Angel (cs)
They have great tacos and fresh salsas
Japanese: Teppan Edo (ts)
Its a hibachi grill and watching the chef is cool
Chinese: I have never really ate chinese at Epcot. sorry.
You don't have a lot of choices if you are restricting yourself to Epcot TS:
My preferences would be:
-La Hacienda for dinner. Lovely change from the usual Tex Mex.
-Tokyo Dining. Love the sushi. Didn't care for Teppan Edo, since we can get Hibatchi style meals in our home town.
-Nine Dragons is the only TS chinese restaurant at Epcot.
No info on Chinese or Mexican, however I prefer Tokyo Dining over Teppen Edo. I can get better hibachi style cooking in my home town. Tokyo Dining has some extremely fresh fish. It is our must-go-to every trip for the wafu rib appetizer alone.
I haven't eaten at any of them, but I'm planning to on my next trip because of info here on DIS.
I do remember that I really liked the ambiance at the San Angel Inn as I was waiting for the Three Caballeros ride. I'm eating my last in-park meal there just to absorb as much Disney as I can.
I was going to eat at Teppan Edo, but since I have a couple of good Teppanyaki-style restaurants in town, so switched to Tokyo Dining. I really enjoy the guilty pleasure of tempura, so it seemed like a good choice.
I heard a lot of good things about the honey sesame chicken at Nine Dragons, and I'm a sucker for dim sum, so I'm looking forward to that. It'll actually be dinner on my birthday.
We really like San Angel Inn but hated La Hacienda when we tried it in November. Out of 7 of us, only DS7 liked his meal, which was chicken tacos. I actually really like Paradiso 37 at DTD for Mexican as well.
Gotta go with La Hacienda. Ate there a yeat ago when they first opened - authentic, spicy Mexican dishes and fabulous cocktails. My last meal at San Angel Inn was just blah.
Neither San Angel Inn nor La Hacienda are the usual Mexican food we eat here in the US. It is not Tex-Mex style but more authentic Mexican food. I think this leads to lots of people not liking it and being disappointed. We enjoyed La Hacienda very much.
We love Teppan Edo. It is much better than our local teppanyaki style restaurant. We went to Tokoyo Dining last trip and had tempura. It was just too much fried food. We will go back to Teppan Edo next trip.
I have not eaten Chinese in Epcot.
