Hi Dis'ers! I am looking for a reliable electric toothbrush. My dentist said Sonicare is a good brand, but I have no idea what model to buy.

Recommendations for a reliable electric toothbrush?

I'm thinking this would be a good time to buy one, with lots of sales between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks in advance!

I have this one:

I've had it for about three years with no issues. My previous one lasted about 10 years. I only paid $40 for mine though (it was half price at the time).

The thing I like about Oral B is I can get the replacement heads really cheap at Costco when they are on sale (maybe 8 for < $30).

My kids have a sonicare toothbrush. The first one broke but was under warranty. I find the heads are more expensive but I found them on sale once and stocked up.

Also have an Oral B, and not a big, fancy model. I had purchased one at Bed, Bath and Beyond years ago for like $20 (on sale), and then replaced it a couple years ago (original one died) at BJ's for maybe $25 (on sale).

I LOVE my sonicare. My dentist immediately noticed I was using one too. I'm not sure what model I have, but it's not a terribly high end one. There is often a dual pack on sale at Costco and/or BJs.

I've had a Sonicare in the past, and currently have an Oral-B. The Oral-B I have is the one from Costco (which is a two pack).

I chose the Oral-B because of the shape of the heads. I have a small mouth and I found it easier to get the round shape of the Oral-B brush heads to clean my back teeth. The Sonicare head is shaped more like a typical toothbrush but skinnier and smaller. I have to say I LOVE the Oral-B Floss Action heads. I buy the replacement heads at Costco when there is a coupon for them. The package has enough for two people for an entire year. The packaging makes it easy to know when it's time to change them...they have Spring, summer, fall, and winter graphics on the packaging. :)

Either the Sonicare or Oral-B will do the same job, it's just personal preference. I would not buy it from your dentist...you can get them for less money online (especially if you use Ebates or something for cash back). Start researching the differences in models.

I'm pretty fond of my Sonicare. I don't have one of the super expensive ones , but the one I do have (the EasyClean, I believe) has served me well.

We've had a Sonicare for several years, and our dentist recommends them. There are some on sale at Kohl's with rebates.

Do these toothbrushes take awhile to get used to? My teeth feel really sensitive to hot and cold after using for 10 days.

Do you have a Sonicare? They have a sensor so you don't apply too much pressure, even the cheaper ones are good. We recommend them in our office.

I have a Sonicare Advance. I think I have had it for 20 years. The body of it is yellow with age, but works fine. I just buy a new head every 6 months.

I love my Sonicare. I paid extra for the one with the quadrant timer. Every 30 seconds it vibrates to let you know to move to a different part of your mouth (outside bottom, inside bottom, outside upper, inside upper). I got it at Costco 2 years ago and it's still going strong!

I use the Sonicare Flexcare. A new one slowly ramps up to more action each time you use it for a week or so for a new user. It's still very gentle and has made a huge difference for me. I can't hold a normal toothbrush long enough to brush or at the right angles to do a good job brushing anymore. My Sonicare signals me when it's time to move to the next quadrant so that each quadrant is brushed for the correct amount of time and no longer. I was having gum problems which have been resolved with use of the Sonicare.

Thanks for the tips...I will try sensodyne and yes I have a sonicare.

I have used sensodyne toothpaste with my Sonicare for 15 years! Highly recommend! The sonicare is awesome at cleaning your teeth. There are many different models but mostly two head types. Get the one that has toothbrush only head (not the one with the toothbrush and screw on dome - the later is an older model and is a pain to keep clean!)

I tried oral B and like my Sonicare better.
