Best DVC Resort With Baby

Is there any reason to pick one resort over another if you are visiting with an 8-10 month old?

I saw somewhere that you can request a pack-n-play for the baby. What about a crib? If you can get a crib, does it come with extra sheets?

Any other suggestions for going with a baby?

My MIL will be coming along to take care of the baby so the wife an I can have more fun.

We plan on staying in a 2BR if we can find one.

Thanks for any info.

The villas have pack n' plays in them (you don't need to request it). You can request a crib - they are based on availability. I've travelled with my children when they were 4 months old, and we used the pack n' play. The cribs are the metal ones. The 1 and 2 bedrooms also have highchairs.

Re: which resort, I would suggest staying where you will find it the most convenient. We love staying at BLT because of the proximity to MK, and being able to walk over there. We don't particularly enjoy having to take the bus with a baby and stroller, so for us it is about being on the monorail line, or at an EPCOT resort so that we can walk or use boat transportation.

When travelling with little ones, the best advice I have is not to stress. You have to be able to go with the flow - my boys usually fall asleep in the stroller so we spend a lot of time sight seeing and shopping! Use the baby care centers - they are great spots to change your baby and are clean. You are lucky that your MIL will be joining you - that way you and your wife can enjoy some of the grown up rides as well! Have fun:)

Thanks for the info.

We have a pack-n-play so we may want to try it out for a few nights before the trip.

We are going to try for BLT, BCV, or BWV.

Thanks again!

I would say BWV or BCV because there are a lot of places to stroll with the baby...

when are you plaaning ongoing? where you own, and the time of year might limit your options, and change our recommendations :)

We own at BLT.

We are fairly flexable about when we can go but we are looking at this fall or early in 2012.

Thanks once again for the info.

I think you will find that it might be a bit late for this fall at the resorts you prefer..

That being said - I have been to Disney with an 11 month old staying at POFQ and then this past December at BLT with our 4 month old and 4 year old.

I found the one bedrom to be AWESOME because I had the sink, dishwasher, and the covetted washer/dryer!!

DD slept in the in room pack n play. It came with a sheet but I also brought one from home and a pee pad just incase she leaked. BLT had wooden restaurant highchairs that were fine for sitting in and I envision this year she will just use them and eat at the table.

I brought an old bottle brush from home that I used for her bottles and left there. We also ordered from Garden grocer so that we had food in the room for breakfast for my 4 year old. It made our mornings much easier to have something to hold everyone over!!

When DS was 11 months it was september - we had a great time - he was a good stroller napper and loved to just walk around and look at things which allowed us to get on the grown up rides pretty easily. Definitely recommend going when the crowds are low and having a good baby carrier (like an Ergo)...standing in line for 15 minutes carrying a squirmy 1 year old is exhausting without one!!

We were there in Dec this year and it was 40-45 many days we were there...that made it harder to pack for the day with extra clothes/gear but our DVC with a W/D made it totally doable!!! So happy we had DVC!

Have a great trip!!

Have a great trip!!

I think BLT would be a good option for a stay with a baby. You can easily walk over to MK pushing the stroller. And if you want to go to EPCOT roll the stroller onto the monorail. Lots of restaurants at CR and the other monorail resorts.

I think the DVC has changed their policy on cribs for DVC rooms when they placed pack 'n plays in each of the rooms. BTW the pack 'n play has a separate sheet. But it used to be that if your DVC resort was attached to a cash resort you could sometimes get a crib from the cash resort. It might be on a first come basis but sometimes MS would let you add a request to your reservation for a crib. It might be better to call MS and see if you can request one when you make your reservation.

Many members that want cribs just rent them from an outside company to guarantee that they have one.

Oh - I wanted to add - I think that an Epcot resort might be a good location..

We stayed at BLT in December...we found the convenience to MK was excellent, but to EPCOT (which is where we at dinner most nights) was AWFUL to get to...

Not having an option to get to EPCOT besides a monorail was less than ideal...first you have to get to the monorail platform with your stroller and then hope its running and then wait for a seat (hard to do with all of those people trying to leave MK) then switch monorails... and getting back from EPCOT to CR at the end of the night was sometimes harder!! One night after waiting 30 minutes (the resort loop monorail was down) a bunch of us (20+) FINALLY convinced the monorail operator to let us ride the express monorail back to MK so we could walk to CR! This still left another 100 people stranded at TTC because they were going to other resorts, but at least we managed to get back!

I think we might wait until we are stroller free to stay there again - we enjoyed soooo many things about staying there - especially the nighttame water parade and being able to go to TOTW, and even watching the monorail from our window - but man, the lack of monorail alternative to get to EPCOT was a real downer for me..

A fall reservation for an Epcot DVC resort is not going to happen this late. It's pretty much booked up. And early next year might not also work, what with the Disney Marathon and the new Tinkerbell Marathon later in January.

just a quick suggestion about the pack n play: the rooms come with plenty of extra blankets. take a blanket, fold it up and put it under the p-n-p sheet. it will give a little extra cushion underneath baby and make him much more comfy! we've been to WDW 4 times with my son (7 mo, 15 mo, 17mo, 19 mo) and the last three times when i put the blanket underneath he slept SO much better. give it a try.

i think any DVC resort would be just fine! we've stayed at bcv and ssr with the little guy and they both worked out fine.

we are planning on staying at the treehouses may 2012 - we will have a 6ish month old as well as an almost 3 year old at the time. since we'll have enough points we figure staying at the treehouses will save any potential neighbors from being woken up by a screaming baby! we stayed in them in january and they were fabulous! :)

I would recommend you see what is left for Fall and then ask questions about the choices.

I know someone else reported this week they could not find anything in October for the days they wanted.

The great news about DVC is that wherever you stay, will be much like home. Really, see where you can get. We did SSR with DS at 15 mos and it was perfect. He loved the zero-entry pool. We got a crib and it was fine, buy he napped in our bed... Usually with one of us! Washer-dryer is a godsend. Dishwasher is great for bottles, but sink is fine too (we use drop-ins when traveling so just have to wash nipples). Everyone at Disney will be happy to help accommodate your baby... So don't worry. Go and enjoy! Oh, and DS loved the bus rides more than anything!

Blt because you dont need to fold the stroller on the monorail. Also you can get to the main part of the hotel - meals and shoppingz, as well as grand floridian and poly without going outside so if it rains you're fine. Nothing worse than having to get baby from place to place with a stroller in the rain. The next choice would be beach club because you can get to 2 parks without folding the stroller and you can get to food and shopping in the lobby so if it rains you're ok.

Would suggest BLT as previously stated the walk to MK is a nice short trip without the need for bus or monorail.

The pool has a walk in feature and a very small water slide for the little ones.

Only concern would be the balcony if baby is mobile.

DH and I took our DS, his wife and 6-month old to OKW last year in a 2 bedroom and it was wonderful because of the amount of space we all had.

We did babysitting quite often  and the younger ones only wanted to spend a couple of days (out of 12!) in the parks anyway, so being within walking distance to parks was of little interest to them.

It depends what is important to you. For us, the amount of space won hands down :thumbsup2

I thought the Tinkerbell Marathon (half marathon) was run at Disneyland.
