I want to rent points for a summer trip in 2013. Since I know it's going to be hot and humid I want to be somewhere where we can swim everyday with my son, who will be 18 months. so which DVC property has the best pool for my liitle guy? Thanks!

Check out pics on AllEars. My preschool age twins really loved the kiddies play area at the Paddock Pool SSR.

I was wondering this same thing. What about the sandy area toward the YC side, at SAB?

Kidani is first rate for toddlers, zero entry pool, little child slide and a fabulous water splash area.

Kidani has a great kids zone, where he can just explore. Also the main pool is zero entry. OKW had a cute little kids pool, separate from the main one.

Just returned from AKV-Kidani, with our DGS 10 months. Great splash area for children, he would of stayed there all day, we had other things we wanted to do.
Wading pool, water falls, drop buckets, and slides.

Another vote for Kidani or SSR (the main pool is zero entry and the new Paddock pool is PERFECT for toddlers).

I would strongly recommend AGAINST BCV for that age. Huge pool and easy to get overwhelmed for a little one. I love SAB...adore it...but not when my kids were that age.

Vote for BLT...great pool and easy access to MK and monorail to EPCOT.

I (respectfully, of course) disagree about BLT for the 18-month old. The OP is asking about which pools are best and there are a few reasons that BLT doesn't fit the bill. First, BLT has very limited shade. When my kiddos were toddlers, being able to get them out of the hot Florida sun was key. Secondly, it is ALL concrete due to the contemporary theming...that's going to hurt if/when the little one falls. Finally, the best best best pool situation for toddlers is a splash area. Splash areas have those soft, padded surfaces and there is literally no risk of a child getting in a dangerous situation like getting in over his/her head or (God forbid) drowning as there isn't an actual "pool" of water....just lots of water spraying about.

Just some things to think about. :goodvibes

We loved Kidani's kids water area for our 18 month old. She loved it and splashing around and running back and forth. She literally squeeled with delight. SSR paddock pool and grandstand pools have nice kid areas too.

Kidani would be my first choice, if your 18mo is on the adventuresome side BC also has a small slide and "pool" area on the aft deck of the pirate ship that many poeple miss.

Life jackets that are available at the pools help also

We just came home from a weeks stay at AKL - Kidani Village, we picked that resort specifically for the pool and were delighted that we did! You will also have easy access to Jambo hause pool which is nice too...if you want a little variety!!

You are right not much shade at BLT, but wrong about the splash pad area....it's wonderful there, and the pool has zero entry, and a baby slide for the little ones. While granted our gals were 5 and almost three, I highly recommend it. Kidadi is great, but if you are doing a lot of MK...it's a lot of bus time ; and driving, you are still stuck to going by monorail, tram to finally get to the car. UGH. Not sue if 18 months would really appreciate a savannah view just yet. Bit...watching the monorail glide by may be interesting, since you know where it is and approx every 15 minutes.

We actually loved it. DS2 did great in that area. We actually never ventured away. He could touch the whole way from the sandy entrance (zero entry) to the sand bar. He spent so much time playing here and loved the sand! Also DH and I were able to take time and go into the lazy river alone while the other one was with the kids. DD4 loved the water slide and the sand too!

Thanks for the input everyone! My first thought was Kidani but the biggest drawback is the transportation. I'm thinking of either BLT or BCV now. We are staying at BLT in December so I'm scared I am going to miss having the convenience if that resort to the MK.

We will be at SAB when those days arrive. Zero entry pools are good but you still constantly have to stand and block them off from going in too far. The sand area at SAB has a good size edge/barrier so they are not likley to "get out quickly" without you noticing. Much more relaxing to sit down in the sand and play with 18 month olds IMO.

Notice the adults in the pic just kneel or sit most of the time.

We loved the BCV pool at the baby and toddler stages! It's very easy to keep them contained there. It's trickier when they hit early elementary school, as the main pool is huge and it would be hard to keep an eye on them.

I have such great memories of our son at Stormalong Bay at about 18 months old.

Personally, we found bus transportation from Kidani to be excellent. Except for DTD, all the trips to parks were quick. We loved being the first on and first off of the busses. We did miss the boat to DTD as we own at SSR. And I'm sure the monorail access from blt is wonderful but we haven't stayed there yet. It's not high on our list.
