My daughter is turning 13 in September and I'm trying to figure out the best DVC resort to hold her birthday party. We are allowing her to take 3 other girls for a weekend (arrive Friday leave Sunday). My initial thought was a 2 BR at AKV but she wants to do the Treehouse's At Saratoga. I'm not to keen on the Treehouses cause they are so far from other activities at the resort. My wife wants to do Wilderness Lodge.

Any thoughts, suggestions or past experiences doing this????

I'm looking for an amazing overall experience including resort activities and anything special they may have for birthdays.

Problem with the THV is that one bedroom has two bunk beds and the other bedroom would have one queen bed (and the other, of course, will be the master with one queen bed). AKV dedicated would have two queen beds in the second bedroom. Same with the VWL. So all four girls would be in the second bedroom.

But OKW would have more space.

If you stay at VWL, they could take the boat over to MK by themselves while you and the wife could dine alone. ;)

BCV has Stormalong Bay which is a huge draw for most children. In addition, it's a short walk away to BWV and all the activities there. And it's a boat ride to Hollywood Studios and a short walk to Epcot. Good luck deciding!!

What activites at BWV are you taling about???

I'm not as familiar with Boardwalk as others on the boards here are, but they have street people, magicians, etc. that are fun to watch. They have some game/carnival type booths there too where you can win prizes, etc. There's restaurants and shops as well. We took a quick walk over there from BCV last May. My children are younger, but they loved the street performers and one magician in particular. Unfortunately a downpore started before we had much time to take it all in. But for the time we were there it was fun! There were lots of tweens walking around there as well. You can rent bikes there too. They have the 4 and 2 seater car style bikes you see in Disney ads. I saw a lot of people, teens included riding around on these.

I think all of the resorts have outdoor evening movies now. BCV has them on the beach (weather permitting) which looked fun, but we never had a chance to experience. There's always arcades too. :) I believe Boardwalk had an arcade mixed in between the restaurants, etc. I can't recall if BCV has an arcade.

Hope this helps!

I'd be asking DD what non-park activities she thinks her friends would enjoy.

THV sounds like it would work great with a boat to DTD (shopping) and there are no adjoining walls which means you are not bothering neighbors...but going to a bigger pool takes more work and the sleeping and living areas may be less ideal.

Logistically I would appreciate being a parent at Kidani just because of the 3 bathrooms...but I'm not certain it offers proximity to other activities. Great for animal lovers but I think its more adult relaxing than teen activity.

I remember reading a TR where a dad took his DD and friends to a BWV GV to celebrate her s16 and it sounded like the girls had fun. They did an illuminations "cruise" one night.

BLT would get them the variety of checking out the monorail resorts...
