Best Drugstore Brand Makeup Remover?

I recently started using Cetaphil and so far it's agreeing with my skin well and I think I'll keep using it.

However, I notice when using my toner after cleansing, there is quite a bit more makeup left on my cotton pad than when I was using any of my previous cleansers (St Ives or Biore). I assume this is because Cetaphil doesn't have the harsh ingredients of the others. Now I do not wear a lot of makeup, though, generally just a little mineral powder and eyeliner (which is removed with eye makeup remover).

I haven't previously used a seperate makeup remover for my face, I'd just clean, tone & moisturize, as there never seemed a need for seperate makeup removing.

So, any recommendations on a good, cheap facial makeup remover?

Suggestions on a drugstore eye makeup remover are welcome too. Been using the Up&Up brand and it's okay, but I'm open to others as my bottle is almost empty. :lmao:

I use Cetaphil and have the same issue. I have been buying the WalMart brand exfoliating wipes (they come in a 2-pack for around $6). I take off my foundation and eye make up with this and then wash with Cetaphil.

Just use a little bit of olive oil. Rub it in really good and rinse it off. I promise I'm not crazy: brands like DHC sell makeup remover products that are essentially olive oil.

I have been using Oil of Olay make up wipes for years and love them. They come in a package of 30 - so each package is good for a month. They are dry wipes and you wet them with water and wipe your face, eyes and lips and it takes everything off. It's amazing how dirty those wipes are when I finish with them.

I also love them for traveling - if you are going away for 7 days - just take 7 wipes. Since they are dry you don't have to worry about them leaking and getting all over everything.

DD was using Mary Kay and I put baby oil in the empty bottle, she likes the NEW MK eye makeup remover better! I like the price better too.

My daughters whole dance troupe uses the neutrogena makeup remover wipes. This is great product because they use the heavy performance/stage makeup and those wipes get the job done. Neutrogena has different types of makeup remover wipes for the different types of skin problems such as sensitive skin.
We also like The Tea Tree line at The Body Shop. The facial wash and toner.

patriciaofoz, Glad to know I'm not the only one using Cetaphil experiencing this. I don't have a WalMart nearby but will keep these in mind next time I'm over there, good price.

Fyrefly, That is an intriguing idea. I've read about the oil-cleansing method but couldn't quite get up to that, but oil as makeup remover might be a good stepping stone.

donaldandpirates, I tried cold cream some years ago and it didn't agree with my then more acne-prone skin but it may be worth another look, my great-grandmother swore by it and had nice skin.

lpizzuro123, I've used something similar (think they were Pond's) for traveling but they seemed more soap-y, like I couldn't wash again after using them.

ceeceeDD, never even thought about baby oil for the eyes! I have some somewhere, going to try that.

JusbKoz, I've seen the Neutrogena wipes in all the stores nearby, think I may try those first. Good to hear about TBS line, too, I've been hemming&hawing on trying the mini kit for my occasional hormonal acne.

Thank you all soo much for the suggestions! :goodvibes

I like the CVS eye makeup remover. I bought a travel bottle to take to WDW with me and ended up loving it.

I second the dry Olay cloths -- those are amazing, and *so* handy for travel. Love 'em!

Re: eye makeup remover... I don't know what it is about my lashes, but they hold on to mascara like grim death, lol. Waterproof mascara, regular, doesn't matter. The very best eye makeup remover I have tried (and I think I've tried them all!!) is the one by Sonia Kashuk that only Target sells. This is it here:

This stuff is *amazing*!! It says it's "fresh as water", and it really does feel like that -- no greasy, oily feel that I can't stand. And yet everything still melts at its touch. Seriously awesome stuff. :lovestruc

i also love the cvs brand oil free eye makeup remover, works wonders :) and much cheaper than the neutregena one its a knock off of ..

Almay non oily make up remover. They come in little pads. I have very sensitive skin and these work great, especially to get the mascara off.

Ponds Cold Cream and Target Brand eye make up remover. I used to use baby oil to remove my eye makeup , but sometimes it would get in my eyes and they would be fuzzy for awhile. I read somewhere about the target brand oil free make up remover and I have been hooked ever since!!! It gets the job done and no oily eyeball syndrome afterward!! :thumbsup2
