Hey Drivers from the Upper Midwest!

What route do you take from the Twin Cities area down to Orlando and why? Any favorite stops?

Thanks in advance! :)

How long do you want to take? We have taken that trip many times. Check road construction too, sometimes going through the upper part of Florida can take forever. I try to time it so we can stop at cool points of interest. We spent one day in Tennessee and went to the aquarium. We also like to get Corkys barbecue. If you map it, it always takes an extra three hours for us. The first leg of the trip is the hardest, you go through a lot of desolate places before you get somewhere you want to stay the night in.

We have also driven down many times, but I am interested in which routes people choose and why. We typically take I-94E down towards Madison, go South through Bloomington, Mount Vernon, Paducah, Nashville, Atlanta, etc. We didn't like going through Indiana as much.

We drive very long days. We typically only take two days going down there (a 1,000 mile day and a 700 mile day). Our favorite scenery is around Chattanooga.

Is that the way others go as well?

Let me just say that you are a brave person. My last drive to Orlando was in 1994, and I said never again. We are only coming from Indianapolis, and it was way, way to long. May the force be with you!
