Best driving route-B. Hills-LA

Can anyone living or familiar with the LA area tell me which roads are the best to take to get from B. Hils to the downtown LA area? I have heard of the traffic problems in LA and would like to know of some better alternative routes to take. (In Philly, there are several major highways that are always jammed during rush hour but there are at least 2 other ways to get downtown with less traffic) Thanks.

38 years in the LA area so I might know a thing or two......

Where in Beverly Hills are you starting from?

You could always get on the 10 FWY east and transition to the downtown freeway (101 North I believe, follow the signs) and just exit on the appropriate street in downtown.

Let me know your starting and ending points. Traffic is bad in that end of town most of the day but worse in the AMs and PMs (of course). There are streets that can take you from point A to B but there are lots of lights and traffic can be horrible on those too.

If you want to skip the freeways, you could just take Wilshire Blvd all the way from BH to downtown LA. It will take a while because of the streetlights, but might still be faster than the freeway at certain times of day.

Without a doubt take Olympic Blvd. I lived in W. LA for 5 years and that's how I always got downtown. Don't take Wilshire, the signals will drive you crazy.
