Hello,

DH, DD and myself are thinking about going to the World in March for our Spring Break. DH is not a fan of the parks:sad2:, so he will have to spend a couple of days on his own at the hotel.

In your opinion, which resort is the best for just taking a long walk, reading by the pool, and just generally chilling?

I was thinking Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness cabin. But maybe there are some other hotels that have nice walking trails?

Thank you so much for your advice!

It depends on what he likes to do. Saratoga Springs Resort has a pool, a spa, walking trails, golf course, and I think a boat that goes to Downtown Disney. Another option would be one of the monorail resorts. The Poly is my favorite. It's got a really relaxing atmosphere and a great pool. There are also boat rentals and a couple really good restaurants. The rooms are spacious as well. And he'd be able to hope the monorail and check out the other monorail resorts.

My vote is Beach and Yacht Club. The pool is great, you can have a good walk around the Boardwalk, and he can go to the ESPN Club. Plus the chairs and swing on the white sand beach are a good place to just chill.

Oh! I almost forgot about the Epcot Resorts. Yacht and Beach club, and Boardwalk Inn are all situated a long a lake and in walking distance of each other. There's a ton of Boardwalk entertainment and there's the ESPN Club restaurant.

Are you looking moderate or deluxe? I love Wilderness Lodge for all things relaxing -- the Epcot resorts are beautiful, but they are right in the middle of the action, so if he is looking for very quiet, I would vote for WL or AKL.

WL is a great choice as it's a beautiful resort with great transportation to the parks for you and your DD, but it's also great for a few resort days. With that said, AKL is great for a resort stay as well (and we found the transportation to be quick and efficient). Since the resort is kind of out away from everything, it's very peaceful and quiet, IMO. I'm not sure if there is a walking trail at AKL, but the grounds are beautiful and it's nice walking around viewing the animals in the savannas. The pool is also great and would be provide a nice place for chilling.

I would say a monorail resort or an Epcot resort. He can walk around, see the different hotels, go get different things to eat, etc.

Wilderness Lodge would work too! If he gets bored he could take the boat to the CR and then use the monorail from there.

For a quieter setting...........WL

For an in the action setting.........BC

Wasn't wild about the rooms there, but the Beach Club is probably the favorite for "spending the day". Stormalong Bay is huge, you have options for lunch right there, good poolside drink service, and there's plenty of walking to do. You can take a 5 minute walk over to the Boardwalk area or to World Showcase.

If you don't want to pay for a deluxe (BC, Poly, WL etc.) consider POR.

Great landscaping and plenty of room to walk - boat to DTD, good quite pools and the best QS food court of the moderates.

Or rent points and stay at SSR and you would be paying moderate prices for a deluxe resort - quite pools, healthclub/spa, good food, walk to DTD (when they get the walkway open - I don't remember when that would be)

If you are looking for a moderate, I would consider POFQ. You can hang around the pool and be close to your room if you need something and close to the food court for a snack or drink. The walk along the river and around POR is very peaceful. Also, he could hop a boat to Downtown and walk around there. I would probably vote for WL for Epcot resort for deluxe.

I agree, with this. Plus the pool is fantastic to stay around. It has a small lazy river he can float around on too.

My favorite for what you've described would be AKL. It's so peaceful and relaxing to sit on your balcony and watch the animals, especially in rooms on the Arusha savannah. Also, the resort itself is so wonderfully themed that there is a lot to see and do just walking around the grounds and in the main resort. The pool is quite big too. Maybe it's because I'm an animal lover, but AKL is still my fav resort.

I would say Beach and Yacht Club because you get the option of exploring that resort and walk over to Boardwalk within 15-20mins.
