Well, my dishwasher has finally decided to stop working. I have never had to actually purchase one since it was always included with where we lived. I would like to know your thoughts on the best diswasher that I should buy! Thanks :)

Consumer reports likes Kitchen Aid, Bosh and Kenmore
They don't like Fridgidare
decide how important quiet is to you (that is a big part of the costs)
Also if you want a food grinder or not.

if your budget allows it, be sure to get a stainless steel interior

whatever you do don't get the cheapest model. they suck. we have the lowest model b/c that's what the builder put in our house (and we didn't upgrade)...when I called Whirlpool for a problem, they said that if it breaks, just buy a new one b/c it's not worth it to fix! lol

I just went through the dishwasher hunt myself. Like everything else these days there's a sea of them to wade through.

Our new house came with a GE that was bottom of the line and so bad it was really not worth using. And it was so loud I could not run it while we watched TV in the next room. I hated buying a new one already, with all the rest we need to do in this new house, so I tried to get the best I could for as little as possible.

I shopped online and in stores for hours and ended up with this one...

(They had a good sale on, I had a coupon, and there was a rebate on intallation so it was a good deal.)

I had a Kenmore I liked for years, which is well rated, but I like the Maytag interior design better. (Allows me to cram more in there.) Every site and even the salesman really push Bosch, but I just don't like them. The capacity is lower and it has some quirks to using which I'm not fond of. My parents and a sister both have one and I've used them enough to know it's not for me. They both like theirs though, so everyone is different.

Also, for what it's worth, I heard from quite a few sources to stay away from GE, even top of the line.

So I've had this one for a month and a half now and am very happy with it. It's SOOOO quiet!! Personally, I didn't care about a stainless interior, but definitely wanted the racks to be nylon.

Good luck. :)

We just replaced our dishwasher a few weeks ago because we had the cheap GE model that came with our house. We ended up getting a Whirlpool Gold, and we LOVE it!!!! It has nylon racks, tall tub, and lots of cycles(even a short cycle that only runs 30 minutes!). It is extremely quiet(It is a Quiet Level III). We bought ours at HH Gregg, and it was like $400. All my appliances are Whirlpool, and they are great!!! :goodvibes

Thank you all so much for the great info! It will really be a help for us to get started in picking out a new one!!!! :goodvibes

Our bottom of the line Whirlpool is craptacular. I practically have to wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher or they won't get clean.

My friend has a Bosch and I really want one too. It's so quiet and it cleans very well.

We have a Whirlpool stainless and it is a Piece of Junk.

The stupid thing cleans pretty good but the dishes stay covered in water.

You have to physically dry every item when it is done washing.

Tried Jetdry with no luck.

By the way it the last couple of months I have had a Whirlpool Freezer and Dryer less then 2 years old (right out warranty) up and died.

I replaced them both with el cheapo brands (Fridgiadare and Avanti) so I will see how it work.
