I am in need of a dishwasher that actually dries, oh....and can complete a wash in less than 3 hours. I am finding it frustrating.
Need:
stainless with handle and hidden controls
Stainless tub
Dries
Food grinder not a filter - yuk
Delay wash
Quick wash in about an hour
Rinse/hold
Nsf sani cycle
Quiet

Want:
3rd utensil rack /preferably removable
on-door main utensil basket

Budget under $1000?

I love my KitchenAid, so quiet I forget it's running. It hits a lot of your wants but today's dishwashers just take longer. I tend to use the Pro Wash function where the dishwasher determines the cycle with sensors. Takes maybe two hours? It does have a quick wash and delay but I never use them, my routine doesn't dictate it. As far as drying the trick to that is to make sure your rinse agent is always topped off. If I start getting wet plastics it's my reminder to refill it.

I have a Whirlpool Gold Series that dries very nicely as long as I fill the Jet-dry dispenser when it gets empty. It is quiet, and does have a stainless tub and delayed wash. Mine is white, but I'm pretty sure the front comes in stainless as well.

The normal cycle is really long, but it has buttons for a one-hour wash and sani-cycle that I haven't used yet. (I generally use the delay and just run the regular cycle after I go to bed.)

It also has the silverware tray in the door, which is new to me, and I love it!

Mine does not have hidden controls, but that may have been an option? I just wasn't looking for it. I don't know if it has a food-grinder, and don't remember exactly how much it was - but well within your budget, I think.

We also have a Whirlpool Gold Series.

Ours is stainless, but the inside is not. However, I think that may be an option.

The controls are hidden, & there is a handle on the front.

The top rack is adjustable, and there is a separate silverware divided rack on the inside of the door which is removable.

There is a delay start option, & there are different wash & rinse cycles from which to choose - we use one of the longest cycles & typically start it after we go to bed. It has a sani cycle & a heated, high-temp dry.

However, like another poster, I've also read that most newer dishwashers have longer cycles now.

Our dishwasher is quiet - at least much quieter than our previous dishwasher. So, even if we are running it during the day, it's not disruptive.

This is what I have in Stainless with hidden controls and quiet as can be. Dries very well, my old Samsung was the worst with drying.

We have a Whirlpool, put in 3 years ago during our remodel. A model just under $500. So far, it has been wonderful, but due to Energy Star rules, every dishwasher takes longer to run, and uses less water than they used to. It replaced a Bosch. The Bosch ran fine, quiet, but the racks were falling apart, and the layout of the racks was odd. So my wife had a large interest in racks.
Our contractor sent us to a specialty appliance store, one where they had a floor model set up of every model they sold so you could hear and see them operate. We have a very helpful and well informed salesman. He was very blunt, buying a dishwasher is all about personal preference. They all are very quiet these days. They all are very energy and water efficient. You just need to match the features to your preferences. For us, it was rack layout. For OP it would be top controls a stainless steel tub and food grinder. He made a point of saying that in 30 years of selling dishwashers, he had never seen a plastic tub crack, so stainless steel tubes aren't buying you a more durable product, you are just getting something you want.

^^^^
A stainless tub isn't about just about durability. It doesn't retain "dishwasher stink" and retains more heat making it more efficient with washing and drying.

We just got a Bosch for a great deal free installation.
and the unit was on sale for 535. The stainless steel basin works great. Really does pull the water to it when drying.
The stainless steal on the outside gets dirty real easy but cleans with alcohol and stainless steal polish nicely. It has a plastic bottom, but I do not notice any dishwasher stink. Very quiet to I was nervous that it would be load but cant even tell its on.

Stainless steel is about heat retention, not durability.

Thanks for all the replies. I have stainless interior now and love it, I hate the filter but the higher end ones seem to have the filter. I am going to have to decide between a Frigidaire, Samsung, LG or Bosch. I gave up on heated dry, it rarely exists with the stainless tub.
