Best digital camera around $300?

I tired a search but it wasn't working. I know this has been posted before.
We weren't planning to buy one but my husband's aunt said to pick one out for all the help he has been doing for her.
So....which one?
I have small kids, lots of sports and movement. I have used my mom's it is an olympus D something...I like it takes great pictures but has lots of lag time.
So any suggestions?

I think it depends on how much you plan on using it and how much you know about photography. I would recomend the Kodak DX6340 for someone new to dig cam's, its full of great options, not complicated at all and it puts out good pictures. My other favorites are the minolta Dimage f200 or the Cannon Powershot A70 (the A80 is coming out in the next few weeks) I also like some of the olympus camera's but mostly the higher end camera's that would be over your $300 mark, I haven't had much experience with their less expensive models. So I would say check out the dpreview website look at whats new find what options you think you want and pick one. I hope this helps!

I absolutely love our Minolta DiMage S414. It lists for $499 but I saw it many places for $399...before getting it at amazon.com for $330.

It takes great pictures, has a 4x optical zoom and also take 60 second video clips.

I have the DX6340 and LOVE IT!! Its wicked easy to use! I'm
terrible at taking pictures but this little camera is great! Last weekend I brought it to the dog show and with a a memory card was able to take videos of my dog in the ring! I'm so happy with it!

I have the kodak easy share camera, and LOVE it... It is sooooooooooo easy to use and to get pictures, and the pictures look great.... I keep the camera in my purse and always have it ready for what ever comes up...

Another vote for the Kodak DX6340. I LOVE this camera!! I even bought the printer with it. It is so easy to use. Prints very good quality pics in a short time. Also very easy to upload to the computer. Can't wait to use it at Disney!!!
