The one thing I've loved about traveling Disney is that every resort has its benefits. So when you ask what is the best deluxe, it really depends upon what you want to do.
In my opinion, the best deluxe (villa) I've stayed in is BLT. It is new, spacious and a 5 minute walk to Magic Kingdom. That said, I'm not thrilled with the decor and I would not suggest staying at the Contemporary. It is somewhat odd and cold to me. While BLT pool is ok, I did not like the Contemporary pool at all. It really needs renovations.
We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge and we love it. I would recommend it to anyone. But the pool isn't anything great, so if you want a great pool, I'm not sure that is the place.
SSR was great, but far out to us after staying at BLT and Wilderness. A nice pool area, but it is big and you will need to walk and take a bus everywhere else.
We are trying the Epcot area resorts for the first time this year. They look fabulous. But they are a bit older. I still think the BLT rooms will be better. But depending upon what you like, I could easily see the atmosphere of Beach Club and Boardwalk being better. And Stormalong Bay at Beach Club is a plus if you want a good pool area.
Animal Kingdom is cool. It is farther out than I prefer to stay. But it has a really great pool area and obviously has animals, which may be a big factor for some.
Point being... there is no easy answer. You need to decide what you want from your trip. Then there is likely a deluxe hotel/villa to fit your needs. I haven't stayed in a bad one yet (and hope I never do!). Happy travels!
