I plan on signing up for the Target Debit Card to get the extra 5% (takes care of over half the tax).

They will be happy to do it tomorrow while you make your purchase... and yes, it will apply. Then they will give you a reciept that will be your temporary account number with a bar code on it so you can use it right away.

Thanks! I'm going up today so my ds can pick out a video game with his birthday money so I figured I'd just apply for it today to save him a little bit. I didn't want to if I wouldn't be able to use it for the Ipod tomorrow.

Just wanted to let anyone who is looking for a deal on a 32GB know that Target is running the $20 GC promo with purchase of a 32GB next week. Combine that with the 10% coupon and it is probably the best deal we are going to find.
I'm running up first thing tomorrow morning.

My mom just got our girls each one @ Target. 4th generation, 8 gb, $195, + there's a printable 10% coupon on Target website, and get $20 gift card w/ purchase. They let her use the same coupon for both Ipods, that might depend on salesperson.

this deal is only $20 more than the black friday deal without the hassle. I haven't seen it advertised....

If you are interested in a new one for Xmas. this is probably the best..

your outlay is only $175+tax + $20 gift card. Amazon might match it on Black Friday with no tax but again...black friday is a hassle for the big ticket electronics.

the bestbuy has a bigger gift card but your outlay is $199 + tax plus you have to deal with black friday at best buy in early am....scary!

Glad for this post....dd really wants a new ipod, but I had thought it was out of reach as I was not buying an 8gb...but with the 10% off coupon and the 5% off plus the $20 gift card, I'm thinking of going to Target today.

I don't have the debit card and read earlier you can apply right there and get the instant 5% off..I went and read online and see the wording "if approved." What approves you or doesn't since it's a debit card?
And do I need to have a checkbook with me? I don't know my banks routing numbers and I'm guessing I'd need to provide that?

Yes...just did this today.

I bought iPods for both kids today, but I only brought 1 coupon with me as my printer was out of ink....and now the Target site will not let me print anymore iPod coupons. I need to find another coupon...return 1 of the iPods...and get my additional $29.50 back! So aggrevated!!

You will need a blank check and your drivers license. The cashier will run the check through the reader, scan the DL and you may need to answer some questions on the pin pad.

I believe a debit card approves everybody (unlike the credit card)

That's what I'm thinking. It's about 45 minutes to Target but I'm thinking I may go this evening and pick up the 32gb. I wasn't even considering one because I was not going to buy her an 8 (just not enough storage in my opinion) but with the 10% off, and then 5% off, and $20 gift card, it seems much more feasible.

Went to target last night (45+ miles) and they had no 32s...only 8s and 64s

Going to call today and Friday as they said that's when they receive shipments and see if they get any....
