Best days to go between August 23 - 31?

We are planning a road trip to Disneyland and Universal studios, and would like to spend 3 days at Disney, 1 day at Universal, and 1 free/beach day. Which are the best consecutive 5 days you would spend there? Thanks!

Will be there the same time as you. Haunted Mansion closes on 8/28 and fantasmic will only be offered on the weekends after 8/27 if this matters to your family. Other then that don't know which days will be better.

Sunday, 8/27, is the annual CHOC Walk, which is historically a very busy day at the parks. If you choose to be there that day, plan accordingly.

Avoid this day at all costs. We ended up there once in October one year unknowingly and it was a madhouse.

If I was choosing I would pick the 24th, 25th and 26th for Disney. Avoids the CHOC walk, plus you get the extended hours (the 28th to the 31st the hours go 10am to 9pm rather than 9am to 11pm the week prior, plus Saturday the 26th is even longer hours from 8am to 12am with no EMH/MM). Also if you go next week rather than the 28-31 you will be able to see Fantasmic and fireworks. They won't be showing from the 28-31.
