best day for Vistana Resort Check In?

Hi,
We have made an exchange and were assigned Lakes units 1809 and 1810. Some say its not guaranteed. Is it or not? We are very afraid to get there and get stuck in the older units. If thats the case we would rather spend the money and stay in Disney. What should we do??? There are 2 families in my party.
Thanks
Karen

Karen: If the Vistana gave you the actual units that you will be staying in I would think that you are guaranteed, but to be sure I would call Vistana directly and make sure by talking to their management. When I made the exchange through the timeshare company they would only guarantee me a 2 bedroom, but couldn't guarantee which section we got.

We got an older unit, while very spacious, was old and dated and had some roach issues. Sorry, but I can't remember which section it was! I tried to get a 2 BR in a newer section but was told it was full.

Thank you Maria for all your help - you are a GREAT resource!!! We are VERY much looking forward to our trip! :Pinkbounc

I'll let you all know where they put us (we won a 2 bedroom sleeps 6 on SkyAuction).

Thanks again!

Just back from a week at Vistana!

We contacted Diamond Lane a couple weeks in advance, and made some requests that would help to get us a newer, or more recently renovated unit. We checked in on a Saturday, so I was really worried about being placed in Courts.

I am not sure, but I think it might have helped that we did this in advance, and that I was SUPER nice... I am sure that they have everyone clamoring for the newer units!

Also, it might have helped that we arrived very early to check in....

I couldn't believe it... Pure pixie-dust... We were given a beautiful, top-floor, unit in Cascades, overlooking the pool... It was fabulous!!!

I did not see the entire resort... but here are my thoughts. I believe that it is Courts and Spas that I really do not think looked so great. But, you know, I am sure that most ANY unit at Vistana that has been renovated would be very nice inside! And, hey, the great Cascades pool, and the Super-pool, etc.... are all open to ALL guests, no matter what unit you are in!

Cascades had a more up-scale apartment-condo feel to it... But, I also noticed that while we were at the pool in another section. (I think it was Fountains I.) That, it also seemed nice, with an entirely different 'feel' to it. Quieter, kind of like a 'villa' where you can simply step outside, and your kids can play on the nice shaded playground, etc...

We really enjoyed our week at Vistana!

Glad u got the Cascades Wishing ! You probably were seeing the Fountains, as they do have more of a villa style vs the more high-rise/elevator buildings of the Lakes and Cascades. The Lakes/Fountains section of the resort is more quiet and laid-back and it's why I like it. Happy to hear you had a nice trip !

I just realized that my confirmation says

Unit #: 2BEDROOM
Occupancy: Maximum: 8
Private: 6
Description: Bedroom: 2/2 Bedroom

Do you think this makes any difference in which unit we would get, since it may sleep 8 instead of maximum 6...??....

Christine,
If your reservation states "max 8" I'd doubt you would be given the Falls or some of the Courts as they only have 2 twin size beds in the second bedroom.
