I am following along. We are going in June (for first time since 1981), and have one MM to use with our 4 day ticket. At the moment we are planning on Sunday 3rd June for MM, then going on Monday/Wednesday/Friday for the other days, with the Plaza breakfast PPO for one of the days. We are WDW veterans but this is a whole new world to us
A whole new world indeed...
1981....trying to do the math....anyhow, the massive parking lot in front of
Disneyland, is now gone, unless you own a pre 1960 Cadillac De Ville, ( you can find her in front of the fire station, she is one hot act) then there is exclusive parking for that vintage car model but as you will see, valet parking not so good for those Cadillacs ....anyhow, if you miss that friendly spiel of welcome to Disneyland from the Tram operator then you can catch the tram for that wonderful memory in Downtown Disneyland, yes, they now have a shopping downtown mall with all your needs to be serviced. DTD also offers a view of the backside of one of two attractions that has a backside at Disneyland, that being Indy Jones attraction. Switzer falls is still view-able and so is the same joke from your 1981 visit presented upon your departure from the many Jungle cruise jokes, which by the way, the biggest joke at Disneyland, Toontown exemplified that JC joke with a trolley car (removed) and a bounce house (removed) that belonged to Goofy. Goofy can be found roaming Disneyland Main Street area, which I read recently does not happen for the WDW masses. Masses of Folks wait in front of SLEEPING BEAUTY castle for rope so that rare family photo of the castle with no one else in the photo is very rare. Castle closed on Oct 7, 2001, for 7 years. 9/11 created security tents in front of the esplanade to the gates to prevent crime. One crime that is prevented is the re-sale of used multi day tickets, this is done by photographing the holders on the first day use of multi day ticket holders , which as a result offers spontaneous gate opening entry into Disneyland. Daily opening scheduled time is very seldom honored. Spontaneous are the rope drop runners who sprint to Peter Pan, so alas, gone is morning civility. Also gone from Disneyland is the restaurant to the left of the castle, Court of Angels, Capt Hook Galley, ( which by the way you may have seen all the construction on your 1981 visit) sky way attraction and gone is the oval-like loop of the Disneyland Railroad, which by the way will be the newest attraction when you arrive but still plenty of room on those train car benches ......and if I have done my math correctly.....there are plenty of benches all over Disneyland.
