Hi, we're not going to do the dining plan and only have a couple of ADRs. We plan to just wing it and have counter service when we get hungry. I would, however, like to steer the group toward an interesting CS with at least some variety of choice.

Here's what I'm leaning toward now:
Animal Kingdom - Flame Tree BBQ
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons
Hollywood Studios - ???
Magic Kingdom - Cosmic Ray's

Since you are looking for variety you are definitely on the right track. We LOVE Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. I can't offer insight on Hollywood studios since we've only eaten at Pizza Planet or Animal Kingdom since we've only eaten at Pizzafari (see the pattern lol) As for MK I really like for variety- Pecos bills or Columbia Harbour House. HTH :thumbsup2

Also, at EPCOT, consider snacking around the world - especially if you have several people in your party that would share. Look around here for ideas. You could also do this as a meal, each person getting something from a different country and sharing it all. Sausage from Germany, crepes in France, etc.
DHS has the rep of the worst TS food. Starring Rolls sandwiches are generally recommended, as are the cupcakes - big enough to share! We recently ate at Studio Catering Co, and it was pretty good, much better than I had expected, and as good as most TS in MK.
Definitely agree about Flame Tree, it is very good!

On MK days, we hopped over to Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. We really like the adult grilled cheese and the pulled pork sandwiches. I'm curious to try the waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow when we're back in November

MK: Columbia Harbour House. We LOVE the fried shimp plate and the apple crisp.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons for variety...Tangierine Cafe for something unique and delicious ( LOVE the chicken and lamb Shawarma platter.)

AK: Flame Tree for BBQ or Pizzafari (not for the pizza;)) - we love the hot italian sandwich, antipasto salad and breadsticks.

DHS: Backlot Express - the lesser of the evils. We actually had a pretty nice lunch there - DH enjoyed the Southwest Salad with Chicken - I enjoyed the burger.

:banana: adding the dancing banana because DD10 is here and wants to see it.

MK- Columbia Harbour House
Epcot - eating around the world / Sunshine Seasons
AK - Flame Tree BBQ
DHS - I guess Backlot Exp if not Starring Rolls (for sandwiches/pre-pckg sushi and wonderful bakery items)

Love all the choices you picked, especially Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. It's by far my favorite CS at WDW. We also like Pizzafari. At DHS we really like Starring Rolls. I've heard great things about Columbia Harbor House, but we've never tried it yet.

There should be a FAQ section of the DIS :thumbsup2 This is definitely one of the top questions that gets asked. Here are my faves and why:

MK - Columbia Harbour House - unique and YUMMY menu, upstairs and quiet seating, malt vinegar for my french fries!

EP - Sunshine Seasons for their variety, quality, & A/C.

HS - Toy Story Pizza Planet - I'm the only one that likes the pizza at WDW! But I like the veggie pizza here and I like the soft, whole wheat crust.

AK - Flame Tree BBQ - RIBS and the fruit and yogurt plate - yum! But NO A/C so if you need that, go elsewhere.

We enjoyed the Yak and Yeti CS in AK. It was quite good and the frozen lemonade was beyond delicious!

Here is part of the menu:

Entrees

Honey Chicken
Sweet and Sour Chicken
Beef Lo Mein
Asian Chicken Sandwich
Mandarin Chicken Salad

Sides

Pork Egg Roll (1)
Pork Egg Rolls (2)
Chicken Fried Rice
Basket of Fries

Desserts

Chocolate Cake
Frozen Lemonade
Triple Chocolate Mousse

DHS is a whole new problem. We struggle to find a CS place to eat there. This last trip we tried Fairfax Fare and had trouble with the Chicken and Spare ribs meal. The chicken was bloody raw and it took talking to four people to get them to understand we had a problem eating raw chicken or eating anything that had contact wit the raw chicken juices.

DHS seems to have the worst CS selections of all the parks. Maybe you could consider ONE TS meal for lunch this trip, say a 1:00 and eat at SciFi or 50's. You'll probably spend just about as much as you would on CS, especially at SciFi. Just a thought. (By the way, that's what we're doing at DHS, SciFi that is.)

Also FWIW, we did like the selection at Sunshine Seasons but it's very disorganized in there and crowded (of course everything was crowded our last trip) so you might want to think about CS Around the World instead. We had a heck of time finding a table for 8.

I love the SciFi dine in, but we're going next month, during free dining, but we're renting DVC and can't get in on the free dining. Needless to say, TS ADRs are hard to come by. :)

Thanks to everyone for all the advice.

Also, I definitely plan to eat (and drink) my way around the world, but we'll have some small people with us and it's a good idea to get a layer of food into everyone before we leave the country.

Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons & Electric Umbrella.

Hollywood Studios: AVC Commissary & Backlot Express.

Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ & Pizzafari.

MK: Columbia Harbor House has some good stuff. Vegetarian options, a nice-looking salmon, a somewhat passable lobster roll (pronounced edible by my New England-native wife), etc.

Epcot: Another vote for Tangerine Cafe. Sunshine Season is great, as well. Epcot has a lot of CS gems.

AKL: Flame Tree BBQ ia my favorite, Pizzafari gets the nod from my DW and kids.

DHS: I really like Fairfax Fare. It has BBQ offerings that I rate a little better than Cosmic Ray's offerings along the same line, and some "gourmet hot dogs" (which join "jumbo shrimp" on the Oxymoronic All-Stars menu).

We really enjoy Pecos Bills and CHH at MK, however if it is opened we want to try the Tortuga Tavern. At Epcot we like Sunshine Seasons and snacking around the WS. At DHS our favorite has become Starring Rolls and Backlot Express. Then at AK we really like Flame Tree BBQ.

For DHS, I would recommend tturning down Sunset Boulevard towards RnR and ToT to the group of eateries there for variety. The have Fairax Fare, Catalina Eddie's, and other places to eat there that I'm sure there'll be a good variety for everyone. There is only outdoor seating though.
