So...We leave for Disney on Friday!!!:banana::banana::banana:

This has been a thrown together trip. I have tried to do my research for TS meals and have those booked. However, my time has run short and I need your opinions for the best Counter Service meals.

We will only be at the parks for 3 days but we have park hopper passes.

So....where should we eat our CS meals? It will be my DD7, DS 6 months, myself, DH, and his ster and brother in law. Let me hear from you about your favorite CS resteraunts and which ones we should just straight avoid!!!

In MK, we love the Columbia Harbor House. There is seating upstairs and it can be a quiet a reprieve from the madness that is the MK. We like the clam chowder and fish and chips. DD is excited to try the fried shrimp this year.

DHS doesn't have great counter service. However this year we're going to try Starring rolls which is right near the turn off to the road leading to TOT. DD and I will split a sandwich and also one of their fabulous looking cupcakes.

AK, have been to pizzafari, eh, not great. Loved Flame Tree Barbeque, hated sitting outside with the birds. I'm a little freaked by them jumping up on the tables and staring at my onion rings.

In Epcot, I like the fish and chips from the stand outside Rose and Crown. Sunshine Seasons in the land has lots of options and something for everyone. DH loves the bakery, the strawberry shortcake is noteworthy. Most of the countries have little counter services if you'd prefer trying food from around the world.

Hope that helps.

1) Flame Tree
2) Pizzafari

Epcot
1) Sunshine Seasons
2) Electric Umbrella/Liberty Inn

DHS - not really fond of the dining options here but we have managed to survive on food at ABC Commissary or Backlot Express

The food was really good at Cosmic Rays. It gets very busy there at dinner time. We were there in Sept and it was packed in the evening.
My kids enjoyed pizza planet at HS. The pizza was decent and had a good caesar salad.

Thanks! Keep them coming! I would freak out with the birds at AK too! Do i need to prepare myself for the little flying things? I am completely terrified of them!

IMO, Sunshine Seasons food court in Epcot is the best counter service in any of the parks, hands down. Lots of variety, and the food quality is good.

Outside of the parks, my next favorite CS is Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD.

I agree with Suzabelle about Columbia Harbor House in MK. I don't think the food here compares with Sunshine Seasons or Wolfgang Puck, but it's good, and it offers a few nice departures from the typical cheeseburger and personal pizza. And the location really does help to keep it relatively quiet and relaxed.

DHS is the most limited as far as CS. Just about everything is going to be the standard, generic burger/sandwich/pizza and nothing stands out. I've done breakfast at Starring Rolls Cafe and they have decent pastries/muffins/etc. TS Pizza Planet serves exactly what you'd expect (pizza), but it wasn't bad and the restaurant is huge with lots of places to sit. It can easily handle a very large crowd.

Magic Kingdom: Columbia Harbor House (the BLT salad or fried shrimp are yum!)
Pecos Bills (they have a fixin' bar for your burgers that elevates them!)

Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ, Flame Tree BBQ, Flame Tree BBQ

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons
Kringla Bakeri in Norway (fantastic gourmet sandwiches & desserts)

H. Studios Staring Rolls Cafe (they close at 5PM, so keep that in mind)
Studio Catering Co. I know people say there are no good places at HS,
but this place has wraps and a grilled veggie sandwich plus turkey
club and a Tuscan deli sandwich.

Also, you can't beat a Toluca's turkey leg. They are a meal in themselves and are available at HS and I think Animal Kingdom.

How fun to be going unexpectedly to Disney! Enjoy!

Our favorite in all of WDW is the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco in Epcot. Sunshine Seasons in the Land has variety, but those Tangierine platters have great flavor and are better than many of the WDW TS I have been to.

We also like Columbia Harbor House at MK and Flame Tree at AK. We have not had anything at DHS that I would recommend.

I have to second Tangeriene Cafe', I think it's one of the best CS locations in Epcot. If you can make it to CSR, Pepper Market is also a nice CS.

On our way out last November, we stopped at Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD for breakfast.. You can see the pics on my TR, the last page... I had the breakfast pizza, it was.. just awesome. I hear their lunches are fabulous also.

For DHS, I had a turkey sandwich at Starring Rolls that was as big as my head. Well, not really, but nearly. It was on foccaicia (sp?), and I had to take off some of the meat, just to fit it in my mouth. Delish, and fresh, AND I got the Chocolate PB cupcake, which was the best cupcake I've ever had..

Hope this helps.. :wizard:

MK

Love Columbia Harbor House, it is usually not as crowded as other places and we never have trouble finding a table and the food is great; Pecos Bills is also a favorite but it can be a zoo.

Hate: Cosmic Rays- the food is fine. It is always a madhouse in there. You have to get in separate lines to order separate things, which is a pain because never does everyone want something from the same line. My DH refuses to step foot in the place again.

Epcot

Love Sunshine Seasons (great food) and Norway- great sandwiches.

DHS

We don't really Love any place here. We like the cupcakes at Starring Rolls. The Backlot Express is ok.

Hate: Pizza Planet. The theming is great. The food no so much. It may be the worst pizza I have ever eaten.

DAK

We used to love Flame Tree. As a pp mentioned, the birds have gotten out of hand. The last time we ate there, the birds literally begged for food. Now we usually do Yak & Yeti, which is ok.

Hate: Pizzafari, they have the same pizza as Pizza Planet.

MK - Oddly enough have not had CS here.... this just means I need to go to WDW more often!
Epcot - Kringla Bakery has great sandwiches and desserts. I also think the Tangierine cafe is great and the platters are HUGE.
DHS - Starring rolls is pretty good. What we do is we buy a sandwich there and then get an extra croissant. There's enough meat on the sandwich to take half of it and put it into the croissant. This way you can feed two people on one meal! Also, the cupcakes are divine!
AK - Flame tree was delicious!

MK: Columbia House. Even my picky eater DS loves it there.
EPCOT: DS loves Liberty Inn, I think its the flags, not necessarily the food. I love love love the bakery in Norway. Best sandwich I've ever eaten. The CS in Morocco is wonderful, too. But, by far, my favorite is the Fish & Chip place in the U.K.
DHS: Pizza Planet. I get the pepperoni pizza w caesar salad for DS. He eats the whole pizza, I get the salad. Best value for my buck (or CS credit). Then, we head over to Starring Rolls for later for a better dessert.
AK: This is the one park I have to say I haven't eaten CS. I might have to try Flametree, but the bird stories, scare me. DS would love Pizzafari.
