Best counter service restaurants?

What are your criteria for this?

I mean, I love the vegetarian gumbo at Royal Street Veranda (I think that's the name), but there's almost no seating (unless they've changed it) and it's always been very busy when we've been by, so if you're into the food then it's good, but anti-no-seating, then it's bad. :D

Here is what I like -

DL
French Market (french dip - only served at lunch)
Pizza Port - Chicken Fusilli pasta

DCA
Sourdough Bakery - Broccoli cheese breadbowl or chicken salad breadbowl
WWS (Grand CA) - Nachos/ French Dip/ Pretty much anything!

We like...
At DL, Pizza Port - not for the pizza, the big salads and pasta dishes are really good and there is always plenty of seating. The little place next to The Golden Horseshoe (I forget the name), they have great Fish & Chips and Chicken Tenders & Fries. It's nice to sit there (outside) and people watch with the lake in the background.
At DCA, Pacific Wharf Cafe, they have a few great places, turkey sand, soup or chili in a fresh baked bread bowl.

Of course I always enjoy a corn dog at either park for lunch as well!:cutie:

Edited to add: I just read your post Andrea, I am not trying to copy you, honest! I typed mine before reading the rest...

That's alright!! I do the same thing all the time!! I guess we know what's good though!!

In DCA over by the Wharf is afruit stand where you can buy different fruits, vegetables and sour dough bread if you are interested. And they have picnic tables behind it. Also at DCA there is Award Weiners and although it is not seating friendly it is pretty good.

In Toontown we had Plutos Dog house and Daisy's Diner is there too. There are places to sit there as well. For breakfast I enjoy the Riverbelle Terrace in New Orleans Square. They have some great breakfasts.

I really like Award Weiners at DCA, too.

If you're travelling with kids Riverbelle Terrace is good for lunch, they have good kids' meals and DH & I liked our food, too.

thanks, everyone. We have two children, so probably looking for a place we can sit down for lunch and that has kid friendly meals. I'll look into these places.

i like the onion rings at hungry bear in critter country.

i can't say whether it is good or not but village haus has macaroni and cheese for the little ones.

the pizza at redd rocket's isn't very good but the pasta dishes are.

in dca, i like award wieners but the dogs always seem smaller than they ought to be for the price. a friend was very disappointed with the corn dogs from corn dog kingdom (too greasy).

hope that helps.

I love the planetary pizza salad at Redd Rockett's in Tomorrowland. Also love the chili cheese dogs at Award Weiners in DCA as well as the corn dogs at Corn Dog Castle - they are huge!

I love the salads at Pizza Port. My kids usually split a slice of pizza they are so huge. I love the free refills there too.

At DCA I like taste Pilots grill. The chicken salad is pretty good and dh LOVES the hamburgers because of the condiment bar as he can make it as big as he wants.

Pretty much any and every DL cs place will have great kid selections. Many places serve kids meals in a little plastic pencil box type thing they can keep. One place to consider that is full service is Carnation Cafe. They have a very neat kids meal, its a create your own pbj thing. The peanut butter and jelly as well as other condiments (choc chips, raisins, mini marshmallows come to mind) come on an artist's palette. My dd loved that one, she felt like she was really creating a masterpiece. They have some nice soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees there for the adults. And Carnation Cafe is not much more than a cs meal with the exception of the tip. Its a nice outdoor atmosphere right on Main Street. You can make a prioirty seating by calling 714-781-3463.

If you click on the brown "Dining" link at the very top of this page you can check out menus and pricing for cs and full service eateries in DL, DCA, DTD and the resort hotels.

In addition to Redd Rockett's, I really like the Plaza Restaurant - their fried chicken plate, plus a salad, is easily enough to feed two adults...and it's REALLY good fried chicken. Rancho del Zocalo's meals are quite large, also, but it's only so-so Mexican food - better than Taco Bell, but not nearly as good as our local mom-and-pop place.

As so many others have mentioned...my favorite at DCA is also Pacific Wharf Cafe. Newport Nicoise salad...yum!!!

I can't say enough good things about WWS - it is just inside GCH - and available to anyone. Since it is not an obvious spot - it is never super busy. They have huge portions at pretty reasonable "disney" prices - both prepared food in coolers, and hot meals they will bring to your table (kind of a fast casual) We always stop there multiple times with DD5 and DS3.

Another vote for the Pacific Wharf Pier. Gotta love the clam chowder in the bread bowl and the HUGE salads they serve. I also love Redd Rockets salads at DL. And the gumbo at the counter under the Disneyana Museum in New Orleans Square is to die for. They don't have much seating there but you can take your food to the seating area across the way.

... gets my vote! We get the food to go and eat it while we wait for the fireworks to start. It's a great way to have the time go by! The kids meals are good there, too. Last summer the kids split a burrito plate & I ate the kid's burrito meal (they didn't want the carrots & I did!).

The jambalaya at the French Market is very yummy, and a large portion. And my favorite snacks are the mint juleps & fritters from the mint julep bar behind the French Market.
