My family and I will be going to WDW in a few weeks with the free dining. We already have all of our ADRs for our TS meals, but we haven't really thought about our CS meals. We'll only be in the parks for one day. That leaves 5 more days of counter service meals that we need to plan for. Any suggestions on counter service restaurants outside of the parks? Also, what food do you suggest at those CS restaurants? Thanks!:goodvibes

Wow in the parks only one day!? Hmm well WGPE in DTD is outstanding! Heard great things about Artist Palettt at SSR. Beaches and Cream at BC might want to check make sure its on DDP, Ive never been. Oh ES at DTD..we spend almost all our CS at parks..

I've read nothing but rave reviews for Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney.:goodvibes

Yep! We're going back in December and will spend more time in the parks then.:goodvibes

We've been leaning towards WGPE in DTD, as well as Earl's. I'll have to check the menu at Artist Palette and see what they have. We've never been to SSR before.

Thanks for the suggestions!:goodvibes

Those are two options that we are looking at. :goodvibes Do you have any food recommendations for Wolfgang Puck Express?

Beaches and Cream is a Table Service credit on the dining plan.

We like the food courts at the value resorts, believe it or not. The taco salad as ASMo is great!

We're staying at POP so the food court there is definitely an option.:goodvibes We may hop on over to ASMo as well. We haven't been there for years....

Another vote here for Earl of Sandwich, yum!!
Also, it's very true that the All Star resorts have very good CS meals - Go figure! I also like the CS (and the atmosphere) at CBR. :goodvibes

Captain Cooks at the Poly has some great selections as does the Pepper Market at CSR.:thumbsup2 Both locations have menus that go beyond the typical burger and fries.

The Chinois Chicken Salad at WPE was delicious and my DD says they have the best mac and cheese. If you go to Captain Cooks at the Poly you can get a Dole Whip for your dessert which makes it worth the trip. I also read that you can get the Zebra domes that everyone raves about as a snack credit at Mara at AKL.

We stayed at Pop Century for 5 nights, but only used the food court once. I wish there was time to eat there more, but we spent 5 days at parks, so we only got to go to the food court the day we arrived, for lunch. The other days, we used our CS credits at the parks for lunch.

Anyway, at the Pop's food court, we loved the food! I had the Mediterranean chicken flatbread, which was delicious. It had grilled chicken, artichokes, olives, red peppers, feta cheese, great seasonings! On a wheat flatbread. I loved it. I had a Mickey chocolate covered rice krispie treat for dessert and a bottle of water as my beverage. DH was all excited...he got a philly wrap which he loved, then realized it came with fries as a combo meal! He got the Caribou iced coffee beverage for his drink and a Haagen Dazs ice cream bar for dessert and was in heaven! We have 2 kids, ages 3 and 1, so only DS3 was on the dining plan. They shared a kids' cheeseburger meal with fries and applesauce. DS3 had the fries, DS1 had the applesauce, they shared the burger, though DS3 had the "bigger half". I gave DS1 some of my flatbread too and he loved it! There was definitely more than enough food to give to my little one without ordering him his own meal!

Well, that was the only CS meal we had at a resort. We loved it though!!

We love the counter service at the Coronado (Pepper Market)--you can get a rib eye for counter service. However, a lot of people do not like it. We liked the food court at Port Orleans Riverside okay. The one at Caribbean we did not like--we went at 1:00 in the afternoon and there were ONLY 2 stations open, hamburger tasted as if it had been sitting there for days and the condinement area was filthy and out of a lot of things.

The food courts in the ASMu and ASSp are actually quite good. If you are staying there ok otherwise kind of out of the way.

We'll have to check their menus out. Thanks!:goodvibes

Dole whips?!?!?!:cheer2: Woohoo!:woohoo: We'll have to add Captain Cooks to the list!

I've never had a zebra dome. Maybe we'll check that out too.:goodvibes

Thanks for all of the wonderful suggestions everyone!:goodvibes We'll be checking the menus out over the next few days......Can't wait to try some new CS restaurants!
