Ok, I need some experienced help here. I am wanting to venture out to see some of the other resorts, and will need to eat at one of the counter services while doing this.

K... What is YOUR FAVORITE Counter Service at the Resorts? And what is your favorite to eat there? Thanks!! :o)

I personally like the pepper market at CSR. It is more expensive, I'll admit, but I've really enjoyed the food there. Some people get confused on how it 'works' but it's really not hard. You'll have a card that you take to whatever station you want to order from, and they stamp your card. You then take that to the cashier after eating and pay.

At All Star Movies the food court is darn good......I like pretty much anything they serve. The taco salad is great as is their chicken ceasar salad. I also love their chicken fingers and burgers. I had the platter each morning for breakfast. so as you can see......I like it all.....

At Pop Century they had some really great sandwiches that I still cant remember what I got but they were fantastic.

My favorite at Port Orleans French Quarter was their Beignets with a breakfast platter and once in a blue moon their jambalaya

Thanks so much for your input.

I was thinking of going to one of the other resorts the night of our arrival, just to venture out a bit.

I was just thinking of maybe going to Poly or GF to eat there, so we can see the fireworks from there?

What have you gotten there that is good? My friend also suggested Pepper Market, but I want to know what you have tried and liked. :)

At Pepper Market I have tried the rib eye steak-cooked to order.

Awesome.

I would highly recommend the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary and I like to order their Chicken Ceasar Salad, with the dressing already on it. Plus unlike other counter service locations their salads are made fresh each time you order them, which means they are not pre-made and kept inside a fridge.

I love Capt.Cook's at the Poly..I always get the sushi. It's not on the menu, but it's in one of the fridges.

I also love The Mara at AKL. I had the fried shrimp platter and it was so good!

Capt. Cooks at the Poly has a limited menu, but the Aloha Pork Sandwich is sooooo good! I have also heard really good things about the adult grilled cheese. And let's not forget the Dole Whip machine!!!

I think the Pepper Market at CSR is a good value. I also think the Mara at AKL has some interesting items.

Cap'n Cooks at Poly: Tonga Toast for breakfast and adult grilled cheese sandwich for lunch (best grilled cheese I've ever had with three kinds of cheese including bleu cheese:lovestruc)

Mara at AKL: African Stew or fried shrimp platter

Pepper Market at CSR: grilled tuna with grilled veggies and rice, taco salad, steak with grilled veggies and potato (you can also get smoothies on the DDP here)

PORS food court: muffaleta and magic cookie bar, create your own pasta

At Pepper Market I have tried the rib eye steak-cooked to order.

Awesome.

Yeah CSR was very good until recently, but they no longer have the rib eye.
It has been replaced by a generic steak. It's not all that good, had many thick strips of fat running through it, but it is still cooked to order.
They also got rid of the Fajitas and the Tuna steak.
At lunch some of the meals do not come with the sides. You have to pay OOP.

I had a couple of meals there and it was OK, but I was staying at the CSR.
I would not travel to the CSR for a meal at Pepper Market.
I used to always make at least one trip over.
Now I only eat there because I am staying at the CSR.

The dessert is also very plain tasting. They look amazing, but even the Oreo cookie dessert was tasteless.
They have a daily special which is nice, but again nothing amazing.
Everything was somewhat plain, not what you expect in a southwest themed restaurant.

Overall I was very disappointed with the changes at Pepper market.

Also just so you are aware many of the good items are not available until 4PM.
I feel they did this to keep people from popping over for lunch from the parks.
Many people with the DDP would go there for lunch and get the rib eye (myself included).
It was always very busy, but now it is a ghost town at lunch.

I'm not sure they still let you get smoothies, but they will not let you get espresso or a cappuccino as a drink.
They are very strict and they are not managed by Disney (outsourced) so I understand they need to make a profit but the quality has dropped very quickly.

When I was there in March it was still good, the changes seemed to start full force in September.
Not sure how "free" dining affects the reimbursement of a place like Pepper Market, but hopefully it will get better once FD is over.

One of my favorites is the taco salad at Pepper Market in CSR.

My favorite is Mara, especially the butternut squash soup. It tastes more like pumpkin that squash, and that's what I felt like after eating so much there for a week. A big ole pumpkin!

Capn' Cooks at Poly is a must do for us. As mentioned the pork sandwich, adult grilled cheese and the dole whip.:thumbsup2 Pepper Market can add up, we go there when on the DDP. POR has create your own pasta, which is very good. There is also a Chef's dinner option. POFQ also has a Chef's dinner option that is different from the Riverside. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much!! Great options, sounds like. Still trying to decide, but will check out all the menus on those suggested! Thanks so much!! :o)

I've always enjoyed the Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. It's all-you-can-eat including, my favorite, peal-and-eat shrimp. Good salad bar too. Depending on where you are coming from, getting there by boat from one of the resorts on the Seven Seas Lagoon is a lot of fun. It's just a few steps from the pier. It is also fun to time your dinner to combine it with a hay ride, or (a little later) with the nightly campfire singalong and movie under the stars.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with everything-good food, not confusing, and nice resort! It is an excellent value on DDP, too. Now, I know you specified "resort" CS, but my fave CS of all time is WPE!
