I am looking for the best counter service options at Hollywood Studios. I looked at the menus on line and I am just not seeing anything that really appeals to me. Any suggestions? I am looking for a non-burger option.

A sandwich from Starring Rolls is a great option...the only problem is that they aren't always open for dinner. It works as a great option for lunch though!

HTH!

We had some great wraps/ sandwiches at the Studio Catering Co. It's right next to the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground.

The Backlot Express has a great southwestern chicken salad.

IMHO DHS has the worst CS at WDW :confused3(wow was that ever a lot of abbr:lmao:)

Slim pickins, but for non-burger lunches you could try Pizza Planet (um...pizza) or Fairfax Fare (BBQ) or Starring Rolls has sandwiches.

Good luck:rolleyes:

We will eat at Backlot Express and Pizza Planet. Starring Rolls is a giant thick half sandwich of bread and lunch meat for $9.00. Didn't look interesting enough to justify the cost. We got supermarket sushi there (vegetables) and DD and I split it.

Last trip we went to ABC Comissary and were pleasantly surprised. The menu has changed and we did fine with kid's meals, burgers and turkey sandwich. Plenty of seating indoors, too.

ABC Commissary gets a lot of bad reviews, but we've eaten there several times and haven't had a bad experience. I like their fish and chips.

They also have Dharma suits on display from LOST...which has nothing to do with the food...but I like them :)

I haven't been for lunch yet, but Starring Rolls is a nice sandwich shop/ bakery. If you are on the dining plan, then their GIANT cupcakes count as your dessert option.

The best CS at Hollywood Studios? This is like asking is there a Santa Claus, or a Leprechan, or even a Unicorn; there is no such thing, only in fantasy are they real. :lmao:

The only place I could come close to recommending would be Starring Rolls. They do offer a couple of cold cut sandwiches, but they are just that, cold pre-made lunch meat on focaccia bread with a slice of cheese and some lettuce. You also get a small bag of chips or fresh fruit. It's ok, but for $11 once you add in the beverage I have better use of my money or a better use of my cs credit on the dining plan.

As for no way I will not go, unlike a few positive posts, it would have to be ABC Commissary. I made the horrendous mistake of ordering the Cuban Sandwich (now removed from the menu). It took me one bite and less than a few seconds to promply reach for my napkin and grossly remove the unedible object from my mouth. And can you believe a year later I once again tried this place and experienced a rather very average (being kind) Chicken Curry. Never again will I try ABC Commissary. Some say third times a charm; I say three strikes your out. Not willing to take that chance again at ABC.

We liked the pretzel dogs and Italian sausage hoagie wraps at MIN & BILL'S DOCKSIDE. Their chocolate shakes are nice and thick too!

While I've never eaten there The Backlot Express seems to get good reviews. We will be spending 3 day at this park and I dread eating at any of DHS counter serve restaurants actually I find even the TS restaurants lacking at this park. In the past I've avoided the CS restaurants because the food is just awful other then Starring Rolls.

I'll be trying Backlot Express and give a review when I return.

I vote for sandwiches at Starring Rolls or fish & chips at ABC Commissary!

Catalina Eddies has a decent italian sandwich. Its skimpy on the meat but tasty.

Agee. This salad was excellent! I would order it again. I was on dining plan. I enjoyed the desert, don't remember ehst it was. Maybe cheesecake.

I ate a huge red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls while waiting for Beauty &Beast. Snack credit.

I like the Backlot Express since they redid their menu. The only downfall is that it is outdoors so there isn't any relief from the heat.

We always stop at Starring Rolls for something sweet!

I didn't find anything good to eat my last two times there, so I made a ressie at Sci-fi for the next trip!

I agree with you about ABC Commissary. I ordered the burger there, which is my litmus test. It was the most mediocre thing I've had at Disney. The burgers at Pecos Bills would hit the top of the scale; this would hit bottom. I know some people like the chicken curry, but curries and I don't get along.

I'd get a sandwich at Starring Rolls as an option. I find the food I had at 50's Prime Time and Brown Derby to be good, much better than a counter service option.

I'd leave the park and go to Picabu at the Dolphin before doing counter service at DHS.
