Best Cool Weather Summer vacations

Cape Cod or anywhere on the New England seashore where the ocean breezes cool things by around 10 degrees compared to inland. If you are on the Cape you can get a ferry into Boston, Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard all summer, it's my favorite place.

If you want to freeze in June, try San Francisco. You can cruise the bay, walk the bridge and explore the beach while freezing in the cold wind and fog. If you start driving south toward the Silicon Valley, it will get increasingly warmer, although it doesn't generally get terribly hot. If you stay toward the coast, you can drive down to Carmel, Monterey and beyond and stay in the cooler weather.

Yes! We went to San Francisco and Sonoma in 2016. The weather was a big bonus! We didn’t learn our lesson regarding heat but we loved it!!! I would love to go back to visit Napa and then go down the coast as you suggested.

The climate in San Diego is also surprisingly mild. We've been there at several different times of year and it basically never varies farther than about 65F - 85F at any time. It's a beautiful area to visit.

What about Argentina, or Chile? One friend did a trip there and went skiing. But all their pics showed the, wearing coats. Another friend’s daughter did a study abroad in Chile and she was also wearing a coat and there was some snow as well.

Alaska. We were just there last week and were so glad to escape the heatwave of Vancouver BC, we came back to dead grass and leaves already falling! :( Every day last week was mid 30's and up apparently (which is close to 100F for you American peeps).

Most Southern Hemisphere countries will be pretty cool. It's their winter when it's our summer.

In the US, an Alaska Cruise is a good bet.

And San Francisco, as mentioned. It's usually foggy/cloudy and cool. I say usually because last time we went there in summer, it was in the 90s on 2 of 3 days. That was an anomaly, though.

I would LOVE to go somewhere cool for the summer! I gotta keep these suggestions in mind and try to convince DH we need a cooler destination next year!

Washington State. Olympic National Park, visit the Northwest corner, Mount Rainier, Mount Saint Helens. Beautiful hiking. Amazing views. Cool historic sites and lodges. And usually the weather is cool and even a bit rainy.

This is my neck of the woods. Our June was cool this year with the exception of the last weekend. Not sure what's going on but it's the second year in a row that particular weekend is HOT. Last year was 115 and this year was 97. July was great in the first half, second half has been hot.

I live about an hour away from Olympia National Park. The 101 loop is a beautiful drive. We drive 101 fairly often, the Oregon and Washington portions at least. If you need any suggestions, if you pick this of course, I'm happy to help.

My late husband and I celebrated our July anniversary twice in Vail, Colorado. The weather was lovely.
