Ok...Let's say you were going to WDW and it may be a looong time before you ever get back there (we live in Arizona). So if you had to choose one restaurant per day in each of the 4 parks, which 4 would you choose and why...And you are trying to stick to a reasonable budget. We will have kids ranging from 6 yrs old to 14 and character meals are not a must.
Thanks for your input!

MK

I would choose either Columbia Harbour House or Crystal Palace.

Columbia Harbour House is our favorite counter service in MK. I get a half of a sandwich and cup of clam chowder. Both dh and ds(12) like the fish and chicken (fried and strips). We go to WDW alot, and eat here alot. In the last 10 times we've eaten there, it has not been very full. Most people just walk by this great little counter service. The only drawbacks to this place is the staff. They aren't very attentive to the orders and seem to miss something each time. Be sure to check your tray before you leave with it.

We love Crystal Palace, but don't eat here often. We use to eat Christmas Dinner here every year. The menu here has changed and I don't really care for the lunch menu anymore, but I'm very impressed with the dinner menu. This place fills up fast, so you would need to make resies well in advance.

AK

Tusker House---counter service. We really like the rotisserie chicken here and their corn chowder. My son adores the chocolate cupcakes at the adjoining bakery. We find eating here at off hours is the best. There have been many times where we searched for a table inside and outside and couldn't find one. Eating right when it opens seems the best time to find a table, or shortly before the restaurant closes.

Rain Forest Cafe is the only sit down at AK. This is a national chain, so if you already tried it else where, you might want to skip it. The portions are fairly large. The atmosphere is fun and noisy.

MGM

This is my least favorite place to eat. However if we do eat at MGM here is where we end up...

ABC Comissary----dh and ds get the fish and chips. I usually just get the sugar free parfait because I don't like the food here.

Hollywood and Vine---a buffet, so there is something here for everyone. I really like the rootbeer glazed sweet potatos.

Epcot

For counter service it depends what we are hungry for. The counter service at China is good. American pavillion is good.

Biergarten is our favorite table service restaurant in Epcot. It is affordable and fun! The food tastes great, and you don't have to be a weiner and liverworst fan to eat there. I eat the snitzel chicken and pour some gravy on it. The bavarian cheese cake (which was off the menu for about a year, is back on) is worth eating there all by itself!!

ok here is our best shot.....
MK....Pecos Bill for cs
Crystal Palace

Epcot........LeCellier or San Angel

AK.............Rainforest or Pizzafari

MGM..........50's Prime Tims is a definate must

My 5 and 12 yr old ds's say Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary is also a must

Ok- here goes...
Magic Kingdom- I would chose the Plaza. Great food, reasonable prices. Wonderful milkshakes!

Epcot-We are big fans of LeCellier-Great steaks! Good service. If you are in the mood for seafood, then go out the back entrance to the Flying Fish (my all time favorite) on the Boardwalk.

MGM-Crazy about Mama Melrose-good service, my youngest loves the pizzas, and we have always loved the atmosphere and the food. The Brown Derby is good, but you should check the menus to see which suits you best

Animal Kingdom-Tusker House-Great sandwhiches and the Chicken is really good too
Also if you want to go for a really good meal at one of the resorts- Citricos at the Grand Floridian is FANTASTIC! My youngest got the pasta with marinara so was happy and we had seafood and also some of the best pork tenderloin ever!
Good luck with your decision making!

Animal Kingdom:
For lunch you should try Tusker House - they have wonderful chicken sandwiches!

For a sit-down meal, I would head over to the AKL and dine at Boma. It offers a large buffet selection of exotic foods. Different from the everyday but everyone should be able to find something they like. If you have a group of extremely picky eaters, it might not be the best of choices though. However, I like trying new things that I can't get around here. The prime rib is wonderful, as are the desserts (zebra domes! mmmm).

---------------------------------------

Epcot:
Lots of options here... but so far my favorite is LeCellier. Love the pretzel bread as a starter, the cheese soup, and the steaks. It also has a rather unique atmosphere.

Another option would be to "eat around the world." Go around the WS and get a couple of items from the CS locations and split them between everyone. You can have a great combination meal! I'd probably start over in mexico though that way you can have France toward the end and get the pastries for dessert there. :goodvibes

----------------------------------------

MGM:
50's Prime Time was a fun experience and everyone enjoyed the homestyle cooking. The desserts were wonderful too - loved the smoores! However, I would not recommend H&V-worst buffet I've ever been to anywhere!
Brown Derby was also nice, but not as easy on the budget.

----------------------------------------

MK:
I don't really care much for the TS at MK, so we usually go to one of the nearby resorts. We enjoyed WCC and had plenty of food! It can also provide a rather fun (sometimes embarassing) experience. Not too bad on the budget over there either. I haven't dined at CP, but have heard it is a decent buffet, and also has characters... so that might be an option if you wanted to stay in the parks. I'd avoid Tony's though...

----------------------------------------

HTH... hope you have a great trip!

MAGIC KINGDOM

CS - I would say Columbia Harbor House, I love the fish but they have other things as well

TS - Crystal Palace - I have only had breakfast here but we are having dinner when we go in September

EPCOT

CS - That is really hard, I would say fish and chips in England, the Mexican stand, Morrocco...

TS - LeCellier was good but so was Coral Reef (I know some don't like it)
We are trying Chefs de France in September

MGM

I really don't like anything there, maybe Sci-Fi or Prime Time Cafe???

ANIMAL KINGDOM

CS - Tusker House

TS - Never had table service here

You did not ask about resorts, but these are the restaurants I would reccommend - California Grill (more fine dining though), Kona Cafe (especially breakfast), Chef Mickey's, Boma

This year we are going to try 190 Park Fare for breakfast, we have never been

Good luck, have fun!!!

MK - Columbia Harbour House (good for kids) (Cinderella's RP is fun, but pricey & you wanted affordable (as much as it can be!;) )
MGM (Our favorite park to eat at) - Sci-Fi (fun) Prime Time Cafe' (fun)
Mama Melrose's (better food)
AK - Rainforest (fun)
EPCOT - China (Le Cellier, but also pricey), place in front of (not in) Mexico (can't remember the name)

MK - Liberty Tree for lunch .. Casey's for cs

Epcot - Rose and Crown

MGM - Mama Melrose

AK - Flame Tree

IMHO, the best food is at the resorts. I would like to suggest Spoodles, Boma and Kona Cafe. For more pricey choices, we love Flying Fish, Yatchsman Steakhouse and Jiko.

AK-RFC

EPCOT- le cellier, San angel inn, or coral reef

MK- crystal palace

MGM- 50's prime time or sci-fi
