We are moving into a rental home in a few weeks. I went and looked at it today and the current window coverings are atrocious - forest green aluminum mini blinds that are bent and scratched etc. I doubt that the landlord will replace these and I will probably end up having to get new window coverings for the ones I just can't abide. I was thinking black-out honeycomb shades for the bedrooms at a minimum. I need help finding a cheap source of decent quality.

TIA

Sorry, I can't help you with advice on your purchase but I wanted to say that I hope the condition of the blinds is not suggestive of the landlord's maintenance practices. It takes all of $4 to buy white or off-white blinds at Wal-Mart and they could have at least done that to make the home presentable.

My parents have rentals and every blind is replaced with these before a new family moves in. If they get torn up, its not expensive to replace. If the renters choose to get new ones thats fine too, but at least they can move in with new, clean blinds that someone else's fingers haven't been all over.

I would make sure to save the blinds you take down. Put them back up when you move out and take yours with you. Maybe even point out to the landlord that the ones in there now are bent and scratched and see if they will replace them?
