I may be traveling with an 11 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. We can do one character meal. What would everyone recommend as the best experience?

We really enjoyed breakfast at Tusker House and dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

Tusker House has Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. The food is a little bit different than the other character buffets, some very interesting choices along with enough standards to keep picky eaters happy. We found it a little less chaotic and much cleaner than Chef Mickey's.

1900 Park Fare has Cinderella and the Prince, along with the Tremaines. The stepmother and stepsisters are hysterical!!! They're worth the price of admission alone! But we also enjoyed the food there, too.

Thanks! I love Tusker House, I never realized there were characters, I haven't eaten there in a few years. I'd prefer it to Chef Mickeys especially since it's a park!

Since you need to cater to both an 11 yo girl and a 7 yo boy, I would recommend either Chef Mickey's or Tusker House. You just can't go wrong with the Fab 5.

My suggestion would be to do a place that has characters that the kids like.

The Garden Grill in Epcot has Chip & Dale, Mickey, and Pluto and is all you can eat..
Or you can go for more characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and do Chef Mickey's. Granted, the food at Garden Grill is much better, IMO.
Tusker house also has many of the characters that Chef Mickey's has minus Minnie.
If you can get into Be Our Guest for dinner (very hard) then it's the only place to meet the beast!

Also didn't know Garden Grill had Mickey, thought it was just Chip and Dale, and didn't know it was a buffet. I do know it rotates, I've watched it move very slowly lol. And, Tusker House does not have Minnie??

Garden Grill is NOT a buffet. Yes, it's all you can eat. But it's served family style. So they bring out platters of food and you can have as much as you want, but it's a very limited, set menu. Honestly, our family goes against the grain on this one. Most people seem to like it. We all agreed it was the worst meal we had in Disney and won't be going back!

Tusker House, I believe, used to be characters only at breakfast but now I think they're there for all meals.

Very true! It is not a buffet. My fast fingers typing got carried away, lol!
I edited my post so I don't confuse anyone else.

Sorry if I confused you on the Garden Grill. When we went, it was Mickey and Pluto along with Chip & Dale.
And when we did Tusker house, we waited for Minnie as my daughter was looking forward to meeting her, and she never came out. I asked a CM and they told me "no Minnie".

Tusker House and Cape May are our two favorite character breakfasts. We love the food and atmosphere of both places. The best advice that I can give, since you're only doing one character meal, is to find out which characters your 11 year old and 7 year old want to see most and booking a reservation to accommodate their requests. That is what they're going to remember most about the trip. Although, if those characters appear at numerous restaurants, also base your decision on the recommendations that you are receiving here because not all character meals are created equal. Some definitely have better food, atmosphere, and character interaction.

I would suggest going with the cuisine that your kids will like the best coupled with the characters they like best. Each character meal we have done was a fun and exciting event for my kids. So far our best experience has been Garden Grill, the characters, coupled with the revolving restaurant, and the food (which we found quite good), made it a very enjoyable.

For our next visit we are doing the Ohana character breakfast which we haven't been able to do yet.

I agree with the Tusker House recommendations, Cape May as well - how about O'hana? Do they like Lilo and Stitch?

Tusker House is my favorite character buffet for the food. I would love to do it every trip but DS requests Chef Mickey's and the two are very similar character wise. And I try to limit our buffets.

At that age my kid's favorite was Stitch, so O'hana worked best for us. You have Lilo and Stitch, but also Mickey and Pluto. Characters are only for breakfast.

Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is my favorite character meal.
We want to do this one for the first time in November. Can you confirm the characters when you were there?
I've heard bad reviews of late with character interaction. Kids would be thrilled with Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins and Alice :)

I would love to avoid CM this time, does Cape May have Pluto? Been trying for weeks but can't get anything at Ohana
