Best Character Meal in Terms of the Food?

It's been 5 years since we visited WDW  But we are going back soon and splurging on Poly, so

Anyway, dd's will be 12 and 8 for this trip. They have no particular desire to see princesses. When I asked the 8 yo which character meals she might like to do her response was, "Are there any with Captain Jack Sparrow?" pirate: Sadly, no (seems like Disney is missing the boat on that one).

I want to do at least one character meal, but I can choose more based on the food than the characters, within certain limits. Was thinking about Ohana since we'll be staying there. Are Lilo and Stitch the only characters there or do others show up sometimes? Have always enjoyed CM, but not enthralled with the food. Actually, I find the food sort of lacking at most of the character meals. So what's the best?

Edited to add: In the past we have done CP for dinner (decent but kids really aren't interested in Pooh anymore), CM for dinner (a possibility; in fact, I do have an ADR for lunch), CRT for lunch, TH for breakfast, 1900 Park Fare for breakfast, and maybe one or two more I can't remember.

We usually just do breakfast character meals so I can't comment on dinner. DH and I are big fans of 1900 Park Fare for the food and characters. The strawberry soup is delicious, of course they have potatoes, Mickey waffles, thick cut crispy bacon, and amazing bread pudding - but for us, our favorite offering is the made to order omelets and eggs any style station. DH loves omelets for breakfast and I enjoy my eggs over medium, and they are cooked perfectly every time. The characters are fun too, Mad Hatter is a riot. Enjoy!

Too bad the Johnny Depp look-alike can't be there as the Mad Hatter. That would really trip my girls' triggers!

Other than Lilo and Stitch when we've been there's Mickey in a hawaiin shirt and Pluto.

my whole family liked the food. Mickey waffles, eggs, potatos, sausage. it was nice they brought the food to you instead of a buffet.

Made a reservation there for breakfast on our last day. Have one for dinner at Ohana on our first day. I like the symmetry of that ;)

Tusker House has the best food of any character breakfast by far. 1900 Park Fare is our #2 for breakfast, with 'Ohana as #3.

As for lunch/dinner, Crystal Palace by a landslide for entree selection and the dessert bar.

ETA: We LOATHE Chef Mickey's with the firey passion of 1000 infernos. We would never eat any meal there ever again. Terrible food, terrible character interaction, terrible CM's at the podium and the final straw is that rather than get a pic with Mickey himself, they have you take your entrance pic with a half sized Mickey statue and want to charge you to buy it at regular price. Never. Ever. Again.

LOVE the CM review. Don't sugar coat it! :lmao: What is it that everyone loves about Tusker House? I think we did the breakfast there several years ago and I don't remember being all that impressed. Maybe it's changed??? Also I was very pregnant at the time and generally not in a very good mood, which might have had something to do with it :thumbsup2

We are Daisy lovers, so that does play a small role, but I would pay the price for the cheese blintzes alone. They are phenominal! I also love the quiche and the sweet mustardy sauce they give you for the ham, it's so yummy.

To me the other thing that sets Tusker House apart is the size of the buffet area, it's huge. Even if the dining room is packed I never feel rushed or crowded in line like I do at other buffets. Sometimes in buffet lines you are packed in and people are reaching over each other impatiently, I never have that issue there.

My family eats at Crystal Palace for lunch/dinner on every trip to WDW. The food is amazing and we like Pooh & Co. so the character interaction is nice... especially for my trolling 15 year old brother who asks Piglet why they serve ham at CP!

Chef Mickey's hands down! I had read so many bad reviews I was ready to do it just for the kids. I was amazed at the offerings for breakfast, and we has so much to eat! The character interaction was awesome. Since it was my dd's 1/2 bd, they did the celebration and all.

My favorite food was the rolled up smoked salmon with salmon, onions, capers, and lemons as options.
