Starting to plan my October Food & Wine/Fall Break Trip with the Regular Dining Plan.
I'm looking to do 1 Character Dinner and 1 Character Breakfast as a solo.

For the dinner I was thinking of Garden Grill or Askerhus (sp?), because the food is brought to you. But I also was thinking about Tusker House as it's been a while (3 years) since I've been to Animal Kingdom.
The breakfast needs to be in a resort as it's a departure day, so I was thinking 'Ohana (again because they bring the food to you), but also considering 1900 Park Fare (I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan) and Chef Mickey's (because it's Mickey and the monorail and OMG I'm 5 years old again).

So, what is everyone's favorite character meal as a solo?

I have eaten at both Garden Grill and Ohana, but not solo (I was in a group of 6). Food was very good at both. Character interaction was pretty fun at Garden Grill. I don't remember being that wowed by the characters at Ohana, we waited a while for them to get around to us.

I loved our breakfast at Ohana. The food was delicious and the character interaction great. I was with my family for that one but I can't imagine it would be bad for solo travelers.

I have my first 2 solo character dinners booked for April - CRT and Garden Grill. I'll try to remember to come back and post how they were when I get back.

I like the idea of Garden Grill for dinner - a more relaxed experience. Either 1900 or Ohanna would work for breakfast but I never miss a chance to visit with Mary Poppins!

Im going solo in either late Sept or early Oct. I love character meals. A little disappointed its gone from Liberty Tree Tavern. I love Chef Mickey's been there 3 times and going back. Also looking into going to Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare for breakfast for first time.

This!! ^^^^^^^

Did breakfast at chef Mickey's solo and it was a lot of fun! As they get everyone at all of the tables involved in the character interaction. In fact; as I was sitting at a table by myself my server brought over Minny to sit with me for a bit! It's up to each person but I also found chef Mickey's better for me because they weren't face characters but if your cool with talking to them on your own than go for it!

Great question. I haven't done a solo character meal yet. Always want to, but never did. I guess I don't want to bug the table next to me to keep taking pictures while they are trying to eat their meal.

Often the characters have handlers with them, who are usually happy to take pictures.

Also, maybe you could ask the table next to you for a picture swap - you take their and they take yours. We have pictures from vacations where I was little where you might assume my mom is a single parent as dad was always taking the picture.

Every character has a handler with them. Theyre usually the ones who take the pictures. No need to ask the next table.

What I've always loved doing is just ask the character "I'd love to have my picture taken with you. Do you know anyone who'd take our picture?" Usually the character takes my camera and runs over to the character handler with it, but a few times the character has gone to someone at a nearby table and motioned for him/her to take our picture. All the guests I've seen have really gotten a kick out of that, and I've met a lot of friendly people that way. My favorite place for a character meal is probably Cape May, but I may just have a fondness for it because that was my first one. With the convention guests, you certainly won't be the only solo there. And I've always had extra care from the servers-they seem very concerned that solos enjoy themselves. I've also enjoyed Tusker House solo-good food, and although I wasn't right in the middle of a bunch of families, my table was in a great spot for people-watching. Although Crystal Palace was OK, also good food-it was just too loud for me and seemed to be hectic everywhere.

I love traveling solo thanks to lots of business travel where you don't have much choice but to dine solo, hit the movies solo, etc. Just a matter of figuring out how to best get my photos taken. One time I kept waving the characters off, just saying his as they came by. I was there more for the breakfast buffet than to take yet another picture with Pooh.

My favorite character meal is Tusker House. Unless something changed recently, they have characters there at breakfast and lunch, but not dinner.

The times I've gone solo to character meals, a character handler hasn't always been available. Sometimes they were busy with other tables, and other times I didn't see a character handler at all. The servers are also busy and weren't always around when the characters came by. So, I prefer to meet up with other solos for character meals. Maybe that could also work for you.

1900 Park Fare is also a good character breakfast.
