Best character meal choice at Universal?

We are mostly past the character meal age. Our girls are 13 and 10 (until the new arrival this winter) but since we are there a full a week and we will have a good deal of relaxed down time (and since Im missing about all the rides being pregnant). I decided to go ahead and book character meal.

Is there one that everyone would suggest over the others? One that has better interaction or more characters. I was leaning toward the evening character meal at Islands since we are staying there and could do it in the evening after the parks close and we arent big breakfast people. But really if there is a different one that is usually considered a better choice, we arent opposed to late breakfast/brunch in the parks.

The character meals at the hotels are excellent.

We have done Islands many times..........Scooby Doo and Shaggy and Gru with a minion are the absolute best ever interactions!

Last year Gru spent around 20 minutes with just us back and forward getting pictures taken and having fun.........the interaction with them was brilliant! Probably the best character dinner we have had in 10 years of visiting. We got some amazing pictures and had such fun with them.

You don't generally need to book these dinners.

We just did breakfast at cafe la Bamba and the character interaction was off the charts! Diego actually sat down at our table and played a game with my 12 year old. It was a hoot! My kids loved it.

Looking forward to other character meals later this week, but couldn't recommend this meal enough! Plus, the staff there were so accommodating and friendly. A terrific experience!
