We are going in January and my nephew will be turning 6. We want to do a character dinner for his birthday. They are not big breakfast eaters so dinner will be it. What are the best ones?

I love Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace. Was always a fan of Pooh and Eeyore, so this dinner was nice for me. Food was pretty good to.
There is also Chef Mickey's, haven't eaten there yet but will on this upcoming trip.
I would ask who are his favorite characters and try to go that route.
Have fun, such a good age to have fun with.

We have done CM for dinner and really enjoyed it. The characters are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. The whole place is fun and the food was good...they had one of the best dessert bars that I had ever seen.

For our December trip, we are going to Garden Grill in the Land Pavillion at Epcot. This will be our first time. I had heard and read a lot of good reviews on this one. My DD8 is a huge fan of C&D so we are surprising her with this meal. This restaurant rotates around as you eat (not so fast that you get sick) and you get to see the Land attraction while eating. This is one character meal that my DH and I are really excited about.

Since we have girls, the other character dinner meals that we are attending are 1900 Park Fare with the Royal Family and CRT dinner....not sure if a 6 yr. old boy would enjoy both of those....however, I have read that at 1900 Park Fare the boys do get a lot of attention from the Step family .

We just got back, and we have two boys ages 4 1/2 and 21 months. Our sons really enjoyed the breakfasts we went to, but their hands down favorite was 1900 Park Fare for dinner. They got tons of attention, and they really enjoyed the food. We had great service too. We went to Crystal Palace for lunch, and they loved the Pooh characters also. I don't think you can go wrong with either. We hope to take them to the Garden Grill for dinner next time just for something else. (Our oldest son is a die hard Chip and Dale fan.)

Garden Grill at Epcot was also one of our favorites. We were bummed last year when they moved it to dinner only, they used to do it for both Lunch and Dinner. We can't seem to find enough to do in Epcot to last until Dinner time.

But it was 1 of our favorites when we did do it, not just Chip and Dale, but Pluto, Goofy and Mickey as well.

We just got back and ate at the Garden Grill in the Land Pavillion at EPCOT. Loved it and would highly recommend it. The characters are great, they came to our table twice. And they play around and joke with the kids. Plus the food is great. We had Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto.

We like the Crystal Palace with Tigger/Pooh/Piglet/Eeyore too, but on this last trip the experience was really bad. We waited over 45 minutes to get seated, and then didn't even get to see Tigger.

A lot of people will say Chef Mickey's too, but I've only been there for breakfast and have heard mixed reviews about dinner there.

Have fun!!

Since you will be there in January, I would recommend Liberty Tree Tavern because there will be characters for dinner there for Jan & early Feb 2010while Crystal Palace is closed for refurb. We used to always eat at LTT for dinner and enjoyed it until they took the characters away about a year ago. We liked LTT because it was in MK, enjoyed the colonial atmosphere, had good/decent food, and good character interaction there. The characters are Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip n Dale in colonial garb. The food is fairly good (not great, but good enough w/characters) - it is served family style & consists of dishes such as steak, turkey, stuffing, mac & cheese, etc.

Thanks. I think my sis-in-law is set on Chef Mickey's. I looked at the menu on Deb Wills sight and it looked really good. Anyone else eat there for dinner? I would love to do Crystal Palace but it will be closed. Liberty Tree Tavern is a choice I have been throwing out there to her but it is her child so her decision.

My DS10 has loved Chef Mickey and 1900 Park Fare the most through the years.

I am a big 1900 Park Fare fan. Cinderella, Stepmother, and the two Stepsisters are here and they give a ton of attention to the boys. Prince Charming was there and he took a lot of time to talk to my son about sword fighting vs. light saber fighting and how hard it is to do while riding a horse. He really took a lot of time with my DS. This character meal is definately not just for the girls.

Also, Drizzela and DS danced and promised to be married. Hilarious. He actually left with lipstick all over his face from kisses. :lmao:

Also, there is great food here. They have a really great dessert seletion and I love the Seafood Paella. There are a lot of other traditional foods there too.
