Only 6 weeks until we go now! :woohoo:

I've been thinking about booking a character dining experience for us before we go, but am not sure which to go with and would welcome your opinions and experiences.

The options that I'm considering are -

  • Character breakfast (Cafe Mickey) for one morning
  • Prebook character dinner at Cafe Mickey, paying set price in the brochure.
  • Make a reservation at Cafe Mickey when we get there - so not tied to set menu/price
  • Prebook character lunch at Lucky Nugget

I've pretty much discounted the tea party idea, as it's a lot of money to spend on just a few cakes, when for not a massive amount more we could get a much better meal with the same character interaction?

Cheers! :thumbsup2

Hiya,

we have done the breakfast at cafe mickey and found it fantastic really enjoyed it. We have also done the dinner at cafe mickey (6.30pm) a couple of times and really luv this too, what i do is book the table a wk or so b4 going and then just order off the menu as generaly id only eat a main anyway.

Never done lucky nuggets as its buffet and find it expensive for our family as we are such small eaters.

What kind of breakfast do you get in Cafe Mickey? Hadn't realised that was an option!

Did you know about the Princess meals in Auberge de Cendrillon? Or have you ruled that out due to not having princess fans in your group.

We have had dinner in Cafe Mickey and thought it was great. Would definately reccomend that.

I agree with daisyirl. The buffets are great value if you are big eaters but can be quite expensive if not.

Enjoy your trip.

Breakfast is fabby. We went on Tuesday and there was, amongst other things:
sausage, scrambled egg, bacon, sauteed garlic potatoes
bread of all sorts incl croissants and pain au chocolat
doughnuts of lots of varieties
pastries aplenty
fruit salad (fresh nice stuff with pineapple, kiwi, mango etc)
yoghurts
cold meats
cheeses
coffee
tea
fruit juices
and so on and so on

We saw Mickey and Donald, Goofy and King John and two other characters....sorry, brains melted at the moment.

It's definately worth doing, we really enjoy it.

I have done breakfast in cafe mickey twice and enjoyed it but some people think it is a waste of money as you already have breakfast included and are paying for it again. The first time we did the first sitting and were rushing to get out to get into the park plus the fact I dont like eating first thing. The 2nd time we did EMH and then went to the 2nd sitting (9.00 or 9.30 I think) - I much preferred this as had built up an appetite and we just took our time and enjoyed the experience.
The food is yummy with hot options as well as cold and is a buffet so eat as much as you want

If you go for another meal I would say Cafe Mickey is better than lucky nugget for character interacion

Thanks for your input!

We do have a princess fan with us, however I can't help feeling that the food would be completely wasted. Whilst I can cope with "fine dining" cuisine, I'm not really a fan and the rest of the party almost certainly wouldn't eat what's on offer at Auberge.

Appetites in the group vary - I can eat like a horse, but the others aren't such big eaters and I think we'd all be satisfied with one course apart from maybe Abi who might have a desert as well, so just ordering off the menu in Cafe Mickey sounds like a plan.

I might call up the reservations line tomorrow and get us booked in, maybe for the second night...who knows, if I'm feeling naughty I may go for the breakfast too! :rolleyes1:laughing:

we love cafe mickey. i even went three times on my last trip lol. my dd is only three so a lot of time with the fuzzys is a must. we always just get a pizza to share and it works out great for us. we tried to mix it up a bit last time but i found the pizza was definately the best value for money.

We enjoy the breakfasts but the evening meal might be a good idea.

Which characters come out? Can you share a pizza or does each dinner need to order something?

Steve

You can share pizzas - we've ordered one starter and one pizza to share between 2 of us (the pizzas are huge!). A table next to us also ordered sides to share with their pizza (fries etc).

If you're lucky, you can meet up to a dozen characters at Cafe Mickey (in the evening, anyway). Its usually at least half a dozen. Usually Mickey, often Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n Dale, Captain Hook, Mr Smee, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Stitch, Tigger, Eeyore, Prince John, Friar Tuck, I've also seen Scrooge McDuck, Genie, Baloo, cat from Pinocchio, oh loads more (but then I do like my Cafe Mickey dinners ;)).

Another "vote" for ordering off the main menu at Cafe Mickey :thumbsup2

Do you have a certain time slot or can you stay as long as you like?

Steve

In the evenings, we are often there for 2 hours :goodvibes, there is no time restriction for lunch or dinner. Just make sure you book for Cafe Mickey in advance, as it gets very busy, even in low season.

we are going to go for lunch at cafe mickey, is there the same number of characters there for lunch? any idea when the best time to go is - we were thinking 12-2?
