Ok....just starting to ponder some ideas for next year's trip. My dbf is not a disney lover....I know but he is good otherwise. In the last 2 trips he has refused to do any character meals. However, I think by telling him that some of the best buffets ( he loves buffets) are character buffets and that he does not need to interact with the characters I have warmed him up to the idea of possibly one character buffet ( probably a breakfast buffet).

Which one do you all think has the best food? Having alot of really good bacon can also win him over....lol.:thumbsup2

I'm thinking chef mickey's or crystal palace. What do you all think????

I would NOT reccomend Chef Mickeys for breakfast. I have never eaten there personally, but every review I've seen has said that the food is mediocre and the atmosphere is crazy and hectic. Probably not the best for someone who dislikes characters!

The food at Crystal Palace for dinner is awesome, I would highly reccomend it. I really like the 1900 Park Faire breakfast which has AWESOME bacon. The food is average but it's a lovely atmosphere and interesting characters like Mary Poppins and Mad Hatter. I also enjoyed my dinner at the Garden Grill, which has a more laid back atmosphere and has food served family style. Next trip we're going to try the Askerhus breakfast in Norway, which has princesses and I believe is served family style. I've heard great things about the breakfast here.

I'll respond this from my DH point of view (he likes characters) but food wise he liked CP better than CM for breakfast.

DEFINITELY CP! I noticed that (at least when I was there) that the characters came around directly after one another and they didnt come back to our table after the first time around b/c we were both adults. Other times they are so spread out when visiting your table that you have to keep interrupting your meal to interact with them.

Also, the food is amazing and the atmosphere seemed a lot more calm than other character meals I've been to - especially Chef Mickey's!

I would recommend Tusker House Breakfast in AK as well. We found the food to be excellent, and the character interaction is not as crazy as CM. We like CM, but it does get nuts in there, so he would probably hate it!

I think Donalds Safari Breakfast at Tusker House is the best food at a character breakfast. I'm just luke warm on CP...I know a lot of people love it though. Also, IMO for someone that doesn't really care for the characters (especially a guy) Donald is a little easier to enjoy. Most of the guys I know like the Pooh characters least.

Without a doubt, hit Tusker's House..

Amazing food, near some great rides and you can just avoid the characters if you want.. Lots of room there..

Another vote for CP. It is a very good buffet and the characters are not up in your face. I think he would like that one.

CP. Awesome food and Pooh probably won't stay for too long! He'lljust drop by for a minute if there's no kids. I think. Anyway, definitely AWESOME food! WAY better than Chef Mickey's for food, and they do NOT twirl napkins at CP.

I'll add my vote for Tusker House ... food was very good. We also enjoyed the Mad Hatter at Park Fare. Also, 'Ohana seems less hectic because it's not a buffet. Course there isn't as much variety but the eggs are awesome and there is unlimited bacon!

CP at lunch was wonderful, it was our favorite. Yummy flank steak and pork roast!

Crystal Palace was much more tame than CM. Both breakfasts food was good. I would recommend an early recommendation for CP before park opening, that was awesome!

We don't like character meals at all (in fact, I've never been into characters even when I was a kid. Maybe because I was(am) too cynical about the whole "person in a costume" thing.) but it's mainly because of the extreme noise that is generally at character meals. Anyways, we do Crystal Palace almost every trip. The food's pretty good but I love the light open airy feeling of CP and the view of the castle. We request a seat farthest away from the buffet/closest to a window and have never had a problem. It's much more quiet the farther you get away from the middle. They do a character-with-people-march around the restaurant but it's very infrequent and sometimes doesn't go all around the restaurant. I've been to CM's a couple of times but I don't find the atmosphere as nice. 1900 Park Fare is ok (I thought the food was ok but the atmosphere feels "plain"). He might enjoy 'Ohanas as he wouldn't have to maneuver around to get to a buffet but like a PP said they don't have the options that the buffets have.

Every character meal I've been to as an adult usually once the characters come by once they'll leave you alone on subsequent visits if you don't seem interested in meeting them. And the first time they usually act according to how you're acting if you stay seated and seem uninterested (but not rude) they usually just wave or shake your hand and leave.

We (DH and I) just had breakfast at CP and it was very nice. Only 3 of the 4 characters made it to our table, and they just stopped by for a wave and a quick photo and were on their way. The food was excellent as well. (My favorite thing was the french toast on the kids' buffet, so don't forget to look low! :rotfl:)

I would go with Tusker House or 1900 Park Fare. Both have excellent food...better than both CP and Chef Mickey's, IMO.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I was kinda leaning toward CP because I have been there before and the food is really good. Although Tusker house now seems interesting. Anyone ever do the buffet at Cape May for breakfast. We may be splitting the trip with part of the time at the Beach club if we can find points to rent. It may be easier just to get him there for breakfast if we are staying there...but have never been for breakfast...only dinner....which he really liked.
