Which would you all consider the best character dining in your opinion

It really depends on what characters you want to see (assuming that's your goal). If you have a child who wants to see the princesses go to Ariel's Grotto. You will be able to knock out Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. If you schedule a late breakfast or lunch you can still enjoy a few hours of relative low crowds at rope drop.

I was also wondering the same thing, I currently have Goofy's Kitchen booked since we are staying at DLH and it has good reviews. Is it worth it or is the one with Mickey at PPH better?

We like Storyteller's at the GCH. It's less hectic than Goofy's and the food is really good.

I agree that it really depends on which characters you want to see.
  • Plaza Inn (breakfast) - Minnie and friends
  • Ariel's Grotto (breakfast and lunch) - Princesses
  • Storytellers (breakfast) - Chip, Dale, and other woodland friends
  • Goofy's Kitchen (all meals) - Goofy and friends
  • PCH Grill (breakfast) - Mickey and friends.
I've only gone to Surf's Up at PCH Grill with Mickey & Friends. We saw Mickey (photo package), Stitch, Daisy, and Pluto. Minnie was there too, but we just missed her. The characters come around to the tables to sign autographs and pose for photos and periodically there is a dance party for the kids.

I've only done Goofy's bfast and Minnie's at the Plaza. GREATLY preferred Minnie's, both for food and character interaction quality. Plus the setting is hard to beat, if you get to sit on the patio like I did.

While Goofy's was fun (outside a crazy long wait for a table), and the food was good for lunch. Ariel's Grotto has great food and above average Princess interaction, but the price will give you a heart attack. The best character interaction for us so far has been at Mickey's Surf's Up Breakfast. First of all, MICKEY IS THERE!!! No other meal can boast that. Plus you get Daisy who is very hard to find in the parks, I'm told. Pluto is at several meals, but he's always fun. And Stich is like having Chip&Dale with their craziness. The kids get to dance and pseudo-surf with Mickey, so that's fun. Paradise Pier is a bit out of the way, but the experience there was definitely better than Goofy's.

I've done Storytellers, Goofy's Kitchen, and Surf's Up. I think the Surf's Up breakfast was the best by far in terms of characters and character interaction, but I like stitch and Mickey and Friends.

We have done Minnies (2x) and Goofy's. We were not a fan of Goofys at all, but absolutely loved Minnies! My sister just got back from a trip and they raved about Mickeys Surfs up.

Have a magical time!

We loved Minnie's at the Plaza, haven't done any of the others personally, however I've always heard good things about Storyteller's at GCH.

Plaza inn breakfast is by far the best. You can see up to 12 chrs there and the food is good too. I like the princess's and we are doing the breakfast for the first time this year. We did lunch a lot of times but the food is a hit or miss some times. Goofys was good when we did it years ago but I have heard it has dropped in rave reviews. Them changing the chrs to only 5 kinda made us a bit mad about that.
PPH is the only one we have not done yet. We were thinking of trying that on our day off this year.
I loved the steak and eggs at storytellers. The chrs were neat too. I do think they should have more chrs there.

My family did Goofys Kitchen. We LOVED it!! I thought the food was great, hot, tasty with plenty of options for all. Many characters passing through for great pictures: however not too busy as we could eat without total distraction. We saw Mulan, Alice, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Pluto and Goofy. Loved getting the pictures with Goofy before we were taken to our seats: then at the end of our meal we were given them in a cute folder with some Goofy Kitchen menus inside. It's all the special features of Disneyland that keeps me coming back!! Hope this helps.

I was thinking of booking Ariel's Grotto for lunch (having previously been to Plaza Inn for breakfast at Minnie and Friends) but not sure about the heart attack price tag =0 Can you give me a rough idea how much lunch would be for 2 adults and 2 kids?

We did Goofy's a few weeks ago. We had a blast. The characters were worth every penny that we spent. The food wasn't the best, it was good, don't get me wrong, just not $150 good. But then again the only food at DL that I considered worth the price was cotton candy!

Standard Character Dining Plan (Minnie and Friends, Surf's Up, Storytellers) is 33 for an adult and 17 for a child (that includes tax and gratuity)

Premium Character Dining Plan (Ariels, Goofy's Kitchen) is 45 for an adult and 22 per child)

Those prices don't include Passport Discount if you get one.
