Best chances for December waitlist

Well, I think I want to take a quick December trip to see the Osborne lights one last time. I also have some points I need to use by March (missed my banking deadline).

I'd like to go the weekend before Christmas. Everything is booked in a studio (no surprise).

What would be my best chances for a studio waitlist? I'll keep checking daily but I'd like to put in two waitlists.

I'd do SSR and either OKW (not HH cat) or AKV-Kidani Savanna.

I put in 4 waitlists (we have 2 use years). I put in AKV-Kidani Savanna and Standard, OKW, and SSR. We'll see what happens. If it comes through great, if not it isn't a huge deal.

On a happy note I just realized the banking chart I was looking at was outdated. I have until 10/31 to bank my March UY points. I'm happy about that! If I haven't gotten a waitlist match with those points by then I'll cancel the waitlists and bank my points.

If it were me, I would cancel the current WL now, bank your current UY points, and set-up new WLs to borrow the needed points from next UY if the WL comes through. This way the banking is already done and you will only borrow the points needed to meet the WL that comes through.

That is good idea, the only problem is I'm not 100% sure that the trip is going to happen. I want to go but with two kids with insane sports schedules I'm just not sure it will work. I put reminders in my phone and DH's phone to bank the points. I'm confident I won't forget. I'm pretty sure by 10/31 I'll be able to decide with certainty if we are going to go or not.

On a happy note I was able to pick up 2 of the 3 nights by checking the website a few times a day. Last night I grabbed Saturday night and today I was able to get Friday night so I just need Sunday. The other two nights are in a standard view at AKV.

We decided to do a Dec trip for the weekend before Christmas (Dec 19-22). All I could get was the 21st in a studio at SSR. Waitlisted 19-21 at SSR and the 19-22 at AKKV savanna view. Checking the RAT at least 10 times a day and have seen very little movement so far. The night we have booked is still available at AKV and SSR but nowhere else. Availability is scarce. I'm guessing many people have suddenly decided to make Dec trips to see the lights one last time. Hoping the waitlist will work but I've booked a backup reservation at POFQ just in case!

I was going to ask the question of how is it that you have points that you missed your banking window, yet are still good until March. This explains it.

CarolMN hit the top 3 most likely categories. The other thing you could do is look at a one bedroom. Those are easier to get than studios. It's of course more points, but if you really want to go it might be worth it for a couple of nights.

Well our third night came through on the waitlist for AKV-Kidani. Now we just need to decide if we are actually going or not.

I think I was pretty lucky and definitely benefited from checking the site and picking up those single nights when they opened. If I'd waited for all 3 nights to come through on the waitlist we'd still be waiting.

When are you going? I ended up cancelling our SSR reservation because I picked up 2 nights at AKKV std. Unfortunately, those 2 nights are Sat & Mon. We still need Sunday. I've WL'd that Sun and then WL'd the whole stay for savanna view. Checking the RAT multiple times a day but no luck yet. Still have our POFQ backup resv in case we don't get the AKKV std.

We just got that Sunday night at AKKV std, so you must be pretty close to the top of the WL! We weren't on the WL too long, I bet your chances are good!
