Best chafing prevention methods?

My boyfriend and I are going to WDW in 31 days (first week of March) for my first trip and I am crazy excited! After some chafing issues during our trip to Disneyland in September (it was extremely hot and humid that weekend) I am curious about how to prevent/heal chafing. I am a runner and regularly use Body Glide to prevent chafing when I run and have had wonderful luck. If chafing does occur, I use Mary Kay's Extra Emolient Night Cream on the chafed skin and that helps heal it pretty well. I've heard good things about diaper rash cream too, but have never tried it myself. I've read that the weather the first part of March is pretty nice and I know that the heat was most likely the main culprit in September. We will be mostly hitting the parks hard in the mornings and then taking afternoon breaks before we go back to the parks in the evenings.

Does anyone have a tried-and-true, go-to method for preventing and/or healing chafing? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

I often will just wear bike shorts under a skirt. I find the skirt keeps it breezy and cool, the bike shorts prevent any rubbing problems.

I generally don't get chaffing issues unless I am wet though, like a beach day.

deodorant works wonders. Honestly.

or there is some runners body glide thing my DH picked up. That worked well. You can get it at a walking/running store.

I think Gold Bond also sells a chafing body glide as well.

I second the deordorant recommendation (and you can easily apply a few times during the day--just make sure you get an invisible solid.) Also baby powder (anti-monkey butt is good because it's more pink and not so white and noticeable.) But probably the best method is bike shorts or short leggings. :)

Boudreaux's butte paste will work. It works pre and post chaffing. It is a diaper rash cream found at many local retailers and drug stores. We bring a tube each trip for chaffing, diaper rash (from eating too much, spicy food), etc.

It has zinc oxide and other ingredients to prevent and help chaffing.

For every trip (after the first) I make a trip to Academy and buy Body Glide and it works wonders for me. I use it at other times of the year too.....

Thank you everyone!!! I use Body Glide regularly when I run half marathons and love it! It's mostly my boyfriend who chafes (and he would probably die of embarrassment if he knew I was asking a public forum). I will be getting him some body glide and some of the other products you've all mentioned. I greatly appreciate all the feedback!!

For men, compressions shorts will probably work better than body glide. Men's shorts tend to rub off things like body glide long before the end of the day. I am also a runner and love body glide, but I no longer have to use it now that I run in compressions shorts. I wear lighter compression shorts every day in WDW - even to the water parks.

For healing - the above recommendations are great.

Everyone thinks I'm nuts, but I wear long pants to the parks year round. It can be 100+ outside, and I'm still in pants. Granted, they aren't jeans or heavy stuff, but some light cotton pants work wonders. They dry very quickly so I don't walk around with wet butt, and they keep the sun off my legs so I feel cooler. Plus I don't burn the backs of my legs when I sit on something that's a bit warm. Similar to this, but mine don't have an elastic/drawstring waist:

Soft Cargo Pants.

Bonus: zippered/buttoned cargo pockets to hold your phone/sunglasses/chap stick/money.

** Side note ** just found these on the Target website when I searched for those pants. Disney leggings??! I hope they get more than just Ariel and Lion King!!

There is a difference in the way that men's and women's pants (especially shorts) fit. Most men's pants are not totally up against their crotch, and shorts are often several inches below the crotch. This creates bunching and all kinds of chafing. The hotter the day, the worse the problem.

Seriously. Got a horrible case of EPCROTCH on a recent trip, and it really put a damper on my fun in the days that followed. Good to see some ideas here on how to deal with it.

I clicked on the link for the Lion King leggings and laughed out loud! Simba appears to be roaring directly toward a rather "personal" area of the leggings. What a crack-up! Couldn't they have had him looking forward, instead of up toward the crotch of the pants??:rotfl2:
