Hi

After considering everyone's opinions we have decided on category 9 outside rooms on deck 2 rather than inside category 10's on deck 7. I've consulted Dave's noisy list and have eliminated the noisy connecting rooms. We're down to:

2102, 2104
2602, 2604
2018, 2020
2530, 2532
Any opinions as to which of these is the better choice (if available)? I'm a little worried about the sound of the anchor or whatever the grinding noise is upon docking as I don't want to be up with our 4 kids at 5 AM...they would be crabby all day! The engine "white noise" is no problem. We have never been bothered by "hall noise" when hubby and I have traveled alone with other cruise lines. However, that docking noise does bother us. Which area is best to avoid that??

Thanks for any help!
 :D

...They are not on Dave's noisy list and I have not read any negative reports on either cabin (and I did an extensive search). I have booked these connecting cabins for our March cruise. I've spoken to several passengers who have stayed in these cabins and loved them. They are very conveniently located to the aft stairs/elevators, but not so close to create a noise issue. Apparently cabin 2626 is to be avoided due to a loading door right beneath it, but whatever the problem is in 2626, I have not heard any complaints about 2624 or 2622. I know at least one family who booked those cabins twice!

Do you know if there is "docking noise" from these cabins? We don't mind hallway noise or engine noise but the loud sound of chains (I'm guessing from the anchor) when we docked on one of our cruises woke us (me and DH) up every port. As we are traveling with our 4 kids this time I'm concerned about it waking everyone up at 5AM. Do you know if all the rooms on deck 2 experience this as they are a lower deck? The other option of a category 8 is so much more expensive but we don't want crabby kids from being up early either...Thanks for any opinions you may have!
PS We love the location of the cabins you suggested because being close the the aft elevators would be great. We were worried that they would be too close to 2626 and had eliminated them. I will put them at the top of our request list now..thanks!!

I suppose "some" noise is possible in any cabin. I have not read anything negative though about 2622 and 2624. As I said before, I have had some feedback from passengers who actually stayed in these cabins. They said they did not hear the noise that is apparently a problem in 2626. I have read that the same cabins on the opposite side of the ship do have some noise issues though. In fact, I believe they are on Dave's noisy cabin list. I think Dave's list is pretty thorough and has been confirmed by many passengers. I feel fairly confident that since 2622 and 2624 are not on the list, that they will probably be fine. When are you sailing? We will be in those cabins 3/23/2003 and I would be happy to report back to you of any problems if I am sailing before you. You may have to remind me though

Onceuponadream,
Have you thought about trying to get secret porthole connects?
I think they would be 5022/5024 and 5522/5524 they are the same size as the cat 8 on that deck but price as an inside cat 10.
Just a thought!

Thanks Bonnie! We are sailing 3/13/04. We are now considering 2 category 6's rather than 3 category 9's for the 8 of us (It's $400 less and we get 2 balconies!).

The secret portholes are all booked already...by a fellow DISer none the less!

I'll let you know what we decide. Thanks for all your help!!

Having the balcony will give you the feel of much more space! We usually book a balcony when it's Hubby and I, but my Parents are joining us on this Disney Cruise and my Mom has a fear of heights and was concerned about the balcony and being on a higher deck. We got the connectors on Deck 2 so Mom will feel close to the water. It's a small sacrifice to make to have Grandmom and Granddad along for the fun! It will be my Son's first Disney Cruise and my Parent's first cruise of any kind!

We have vacationed with my husbands parents several times and it's always so much fun. My husband and I had a balcony on the Carnival Victory a few years ago and it was really nice having our "own" piece of the ocean. My husband's parents have cruised for many years and have never had a balcony. I think years ago they were so unafordable only the suites had them. They are a little hesitant and feel it's a bit extravagent and that we won't be in our rooms long enough to use them. However, since it's actually less expensive than the 3 outside staterooms they suggested we are hoping to convince them. Can't wait to see the looks on our kids faces (they think we have inside staterooms)!

DW and I prefer aft staterooms on deck 2, b/c they are nearer to the venues we take part in the most. These include PC, AP, deck 9 beverage station, Topsiders, Scoops, Plutos. All are just a straight shot up the aft elevator. Also, through our experience, we've found the aft elevators seem to be the least used...
