Looking for the best cash reward card. We have excellent credit.
My husband is leaning toward the Bank of America 3-2-1 cashback reward card.
I think CapitalOne 1.5% cashback reward card looks good.
Anybody in the industry out there who can give their professional opinion and perspectives, please? :wizard:
Only looking for cashback reward, no other rewards, so no point mentioning Disney Visa, airline rewards, etc.

The PenFed cash rewards card gives 5% back on gas.

I like Amex Blue Preferred. 6% on groceries up to $6,000 (I max out the $6K by buying gift cards at Kroger). There is a $75 annual fee. It's also 3% on gas and department stores. In addition, the Amex offers are great (not specific to the Blue card). Last month I had $125 back in offers (e.g., $25 off $75 at Amazon, $5 of $25 at BP, $15 off $115 at Costco.com). This month there's a nice offer for Panera and Staples on my account.

We now use the Fidelity Investment Rewards AMEX card. We have had it for several years and it works well for us

No annual fee, 2 percent on everything 24/7 365 with no games or caps.

I like the Amex Blue Cash Everyday. 3% on groceries, 2% on gas, 1% everything else but there is no annual fee.

We also like our Chase cards, one is Freedom, which is 1% but with rotating 5% categories, and the other is Chase Ink (business card, DH is self-employed). That one gives 3% on "business" expenses, which are office supplies, gas, restaurants and home improvement/hardware stores. No fee on either of these. The Freedom tends to have the lowest rate, for when we very rarely have to carry over part of a month's bill.

The BP offer was multi-use, so effectively a 20% discount in gas as long as you filled up $25 at a time.

Yes! I saved at least $50 on that one. I filled up every time I used 8 gallons. Helped me keep gas costs down on a 1,000 mile trip to sw Florida:)

Here's how I'm "working my cards" this quarter:

- AmexBlue Preferred Groceries 6%, Dept Stores 3%, Everything else 1% (+any special offers)

- Chase Freedom 5% on Gas, movies, Starbucks

- Discover It 5% Restaurants, movies

I have Chase Freedom and it goes by a point system. I was going to use mine to get 2 Universal tickets for 25,000 points. They no longer have those tickets, so I cashed out for $253.

I currently have the following.

Chase BP Visa (old version): 5% on BP, 2% on Dining and Travel, 1% All Else
Chase Freedom: 5% Rotating and 1% on all else.

I was tempted to get rid of the BP Visa and get a Barclay MC with 2% on Dining, Groceries, and Utilities

I'm the one that would rather maximize and use different cards based of their best %, but my wife hates complication and would rather we just stick to 1 card. That's why I went with Freedom as our main because at least it mixes it up.

Hmmm. I was searching just yesterday for a new cash rewards card. The way I read the Fidelity Amex and Visa was that it was 1.5% on the first 15,000 spent, and then it increased to 2%.

Did I misunderstand?

In the meantime, I went with Capital One with their 1.5% across the board. Plus they had a $100 bonus after you charge $500.

I considered the Amex for the groceries, but lately I do most of my shopping at Aldi's and very little at stores that accept credit cards.

I just googled fidelity investments rewards american express and quickly found the info supporting 2 percent. It appears the visa does have tiers.

We also have the Chase Freedom, I like when they have the 5% back on gas. And it's a no fee card, I also like when they do the 5% back at restaurants. Linda :)

I signed up for the Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard today. $100 on first use and 2% back on Gas,Groceries, and Utilities with 1% on the rest.

If figure pairing that up with my Chase Freedom will be a win/win. I also like having a mastercard and visa in case a place doesn't take one or the other like Sam's.
