We are renting a car to drive from Queens,New York to Disney, which company do you think is best?

Do you plan to rent from a local agency or the airport? DH and I live in NJ and always pick up a rental car from Newark Airport. We especially like Dollar or National, because we are members of Emerald Club and Fastlane. Both of these let us by-pass the lines at the counter. We have also used Avis several times. We have always had good service with any of the airport companies. Local agencies have limited hours, and we find that many do not offer unlimited miles (a MUST for us).
When renting a car locally, do your homework and check rates and details everywhere. There can be major price and rules differences from one agency to the next. Some agencies can try hard sell tactics for add ons, like insurance, which will greatly increase the final cost. We put the rental on our American Express card so we don't need the insurance. You can also check other cc companies and with your own automobile insurance company.
Also check mousesavers.com and rentalcodes.com for more information on savings.

I've had good experiences with Enterprise. I was able to pick one up locally and get unlimited miles. No matter which agency you pick, try to find one away from the airport, if you can, as locations on airport often tack on fees in additional to sales tax.

Definitely check the rental car company's policy for driving outside the state. Some permit only contiguous states; others will let you drive across country! Then check your auto insurance policy (call your agent) to see if it covers a rental car and to what extent. Insurance laws are different in every state. Research Florida's minimum insurance requirements on the internet to be sure you're covered. As the other poster noted, your CC may offer gap insurance.

Beyond that, look at the rates. Subscribe to the Mousesavers newsletter to get current codes. Keep in mind that they are geared to rental in Florida, rather than another state.

Also check The Entertainment Book. There usually are some decent coupons in it. Most of the coupons expire October 31, but the car rental coupons usually are valid through December 31.

We have used Alamo. The picking up and dropping off was fast and painless. :)
