Best Car hire?

Hi again everyone, well following our 2009 "final ever trip", we didn't go this year.

We were bereft!

Can't be doing without Florida right?

So, back we go next April/May for another "final ever trip". Who am I kidding right???

Anyway, looking at the prices on UScarhire they seem to have jumped quite a bit since 2009. Up by 25% to be exact.

What's the view of the board? Are they still the cheapest? I do like the service but that's a pretty big jump isn't it?

Can anyone rec a different Car rental company for comparison?

I checked the prices on release for next October and Usrentacar were the cheapest for my needs using Budget (Full size 4 door with upgrade to Prem)

Its possible the rates you paid back in 2009 were set in 2008 when the exchange rate was $2/£1 depending when you booked. Prices have gone up since partly thru worse exchange rates and increase in base prices.

If you post your dates, size car and best price you have I will have a look around and see if I can see anything better.

Just slightly cheaper Direct with dollar.co.uk at £314.03

One thing I did notice is Netflights do not have Thrifty loaded into the system yet for your dates, also not yet available direct. Same company as Dollar, same collection point and same cars but usually slightly cheaper, saying that I highly doubt you will get much better than £314 for 15 days 4x4 rental, its about as cheap as you will see these days.

Thanks for that Wayne, it's still a really good deal I guess. I got such an unbelievable deal the last time I think I was shocked how much the price went up!

Hi,

Just for info I have used www.holidaycarhire4less.co.uk for holiday car hire, and www.alamo.co.uk/brits, with the former you generally pay in advance, with the latter you pay when you are out in the States and normally after the car has been returned. Both of them have very competitive prices with the Alamo link having a slight edge as it also offers 3 free additional drivers
