Best car for group of 5

This is our first time traveling with both kids and my mom. We need a car that will fit 3 adults and 2 car seats and we have no idea what type to get...any thoughts?

Id get a minivan and spread out. Its nice to be comfortable, not squished I wouldnt want to be the one in between 2 carseats

At least a full size SUV or probably a minivan. We only had 1 carseat and 3 adults with a full size SUV last year and we used all the space tranporting the stroller and stuff.

Don't forget room for luggage and strollers! Consider a mini van..put the kids in the first row and if the back row has a split back seat or storage to fold the seat under, you would have space for luggage and mom can sit in the other part of the "split" seat

I would also get a minivan.

A little tip for accessing the back... keep one of the bucket seats flipped down flat so you can easily get the kids in/out of their carseats. (Our last minivan even had cupholders on the back of the center seats, so you could use it as a table for snacks/drinks.) At home, we often just leave the extra seat in the garage. It's tough to squeeze between the two center seats, especially with a little one.

A minivan for sure!!! I'd try to get one with captain's chairs in the second row - one seat for each car seat and then the 3rd adult can have the entire back to themselves.

I too would recommend a minivan. If not, at least a large SUV. Last year we went down, 4 adults, 1 carseat and had an SUV (I think it was a midsize SUV). We had a Jeep Laredo, I just can't remember it's class. Anyway, it was VERY SQUISHY traveling from one place to the other and we had a hard time fitting all of our luggage in the car with the stroller to/from the airport. We ended up holding some in our laps.

I can only imagine how squished we would have been if it were 3 adults 2 carseats

We will be getting a mnivan for this trip of 3 adults 2 kids with carseats. I have a Durango at home and it is good size so we could fit all the luggage and the seats but the adult would have to be on the small size to fit between the seats so we are going for the comfort of more space.

We have 3 adults and 4 kids but I can't imagine going anywhere without a minivan lol - even if I only had 2 kids, I'd still want a minivan with 3 adults haah

I agree! Minivan for sure! You will also need room for the luggage to/from the resort!

Last year we had 2 adult and 2 children (one carseat, one booster seat). We got a convertible. We were a sight to be seen checking into the resort! I had 2 carry-ons up front with me, there was a bag between the girls in the bckseat, and a suitcase behind each of the front seats so the girls had to sit with their feet on top of the suitcases. Thankfully DH is only 5'10" or he would not have been able to fit in the driver's seat once it was pushed up so far!

This year we are getting a minivan!!!

I had a Chevy Uplander from Alamo for $172 total
It is a smaller minivan. Also had two rows of DVD payers!
I found a code on the transportation forum here that was even less then the one on mousesaveres.

You have to keep looking and putting in codes, get updates from emails, and seach the site where others are getting great deals.

Also if you want a great deal for just a few days, I had a trip we used the Express, but I rented a car through Enterprize they picked me up. A weekend rate Thurs throu to Mon AM was $55 for a Nissan Sentra. The other rates for the weekend were 50% off too.
