Best camera to use in parks?

I know there are threads on this subject somewhere but I cannot locate them, can someone please lead me in the right direction? I am in the market for a new camera and I want to hear others opinions before I do! I am looking for one between a point and shoot and DSLR! TIA!

I use an Olympus Pen - it's a point and shoot that's also a compact DSLR. It's small and compact, but a little on the heavy side when compared to a normal point and shoot. The only drawback is that you have to switch lenses for macro shots or if you want to zoom up on things.

For 8 straight years I lugged a DSLR around the parks, but the truth of the matter is the last 2 years I was much more comfortable with a small point and shoot camera. Instead of my Nikon D200 I carried a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 and it was soo much easier. A DSLR gets heavy after a few hours of walking in the parks, plus it's harder to protect on rides especially rides that get you wet, ie. splash mountain. But the truth is you do sacrifice some picture quality but not enough to make a difference. I am going this Christmas for the first time, I will probably bring both cameras down with me because of the decorations. But that aside smaller is better!

Got a Canon Powershot Elph 300HS recently, and it takes great pictures in auto mode. Shutter speed was quite impressive, and it's really small. Can fit in your pocket for those candid ride shots. Been really happy so far.

I don't know where you live but if there is a Costco near you you can buy a camera and they have a 90 day no questions asked return policy, so you can test it out and if you like it take it to Disney. That's how I did it, i tried it, I liked it and I kept it.
